Dave D. is claiming were leaning towards Gordon. Im calling shenanigans on that <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>General manager Kiki Vandeweghe and the team's scouts have debated for weeks how the four remaining players in the top 10 rank. It is believed that they rank them in this order: Gordon, Gallinari, Lopez and Bayless. The reason Bayless is their least favorite alternative is a matter of need. With Vince Carter and Devin Harris entrenched as the starting backcourt, the Arizona combo guard would have to fill an instant-offense role off the bench -- a priority for any team, sure, but it doesn't help the Nets plug the hole they have in their power rotation. Bayless and Gordon, who each expected to go in the top six, are now covering their bets. After refusing to work out with the Nets in the past month, their agents called Thorn and informed him that they would like to see him in Manhattan today, when the top picks gather to meet the media. Thorn said he would be there. But could he take a 6-3 guard that high? "Yeah, if it's the right one," Thorn replied. The unanswered question: If Bayless drops to 10, would the Nets trade down to get a big man instead? Some say that is unlikely -- the gap in talent is too significant, according to those familiar with Thorn's thinking.</div> Yeah, but he can back up both spots. Considering we really dont have any backups at the 1 or 2, we could have a potential starter in Bayless. And he can dribble, we dont have a ton of penetrators.
Bayless won't last. Gordon will...and Gordon is my least favorite player up top. He's the guy I've thought is most likely to be a bust. I don't know what everyone else knows but he's undersized, can't play the point and at the end of the year, fell off dramatically indicating either a lack of drive or a lack of stamina.

Gordon had arguably the best season of any NCAA freshman all things considered. Either way, it's a bit of a pipedream to think of either Gordon or Bayless falling to #10.
So what happens if we fire Frank mid-season? Is he going to start putting up bricks bc hes distracted? If hes the BPA I would take the Blazer deal, at least in that we get a back up point.

I think as he gets older and used to the concept that coaches get fired he'll be alright with that.

When a collegiate coach is fired, it has an entirely different impact on the team than if an NBA coach were fired. In the NCAA, a college coach has more impact on the team, with the teams' entire identity being a reflection of that coach's personality. A coach leaving an NCAA team midseason is very uncommon for that reason. Also, Gordon injured his back mid-season and his wrist mid-to-late season.

NBA players don't go to teams because of the coaches as much as college players do, they go where the money is, there's a lot more emotional attachment in the college game between a coach and a player.
I just can't envision Gordon on the Nets. He's short! He doesn't play defense! He takes all the shots! He commits eight turnovers a game!

He is relentless in attacking the rim, something the Nets need.

If we *shudder* do end up drafting Gordon, I'll be pissed. But I do believe that Thorn has a history of prefering big guards. So I'm optimistic about that. My hunch is the Clippers will take him.

Guess who became the interim coach?
I like eric gordon game, but my reservation with him is his size. I agree with dumpy, his attacking spirit is needed especially with our 2nd unit but I'm notE sold on him being our pick
i think its messed up everyone liked gordon but now there is a chance he falls down and everyone bashes on him.
ok if we have this dilema... i wouldnt be so sad... bayless or gordon? seriously thats a good problem to have
