<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>New season, new Los Angeles Lakers? The Lakers could feature a completely different makeup next season, Coach Phil Jackson said Friday. "If and when [Andrew Bynum] is back, which we anticipate, it will be a different team entirely," Jackson said. The shifting probably will involve players sliding into new roles, rather than a full-out hunt in the free-agent market this summer. It will include juggling a loaded frontcourt and Lamar Odom possibly moving from power forward to small forward. "It's a real issue," Jackson said. "We think we can do it. We think people will have to sacrifice." General Manager Mitch Kupchak said the team would be creative in its rotation next year, and one option was for Odom to play guard and Kobe Bryant to move up to small forward. "It could be the longest and biggest frontcourt in the NBA in many, many years," Kupchak said. "It is a team that would be very talented, very long and versatile, and I think training camp would be an important time to test out what [Jackson] has done during the summer."</div> http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-spw-laker...,0,435645.story I hope that they don't move Kobe to Small Forward I would rather keep him where he is at. But maybe it could work.
I think this could work very well. Kobe without the ball is still a threat as he is a capable jumpshooter. Odom without the ball, teams won't respect as much because they know he isn't looking for the shot. Odom with the ball, they will have to respect or he'll get into the lane.
No. Odom doesn't have a jumper. Like nMg pointed out, Kobe lost weight last off-season to extend his career. If we were to move him to the 3, we'd have to bulk him up again. This has disaster written all over it.
He can hit mid ranged shots, and open deep shots. However for the Lakers, there are 3 scenarios with Odom 1. Become a major ballhandler. 2. Develop a 3 point shot. 3. Trade him
What's wrong with Odom at SF? That's what I got from the article, mostly. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (article)</div><div class='quotemain'>It will include juggling a loaded frontcourt and Lamar Odom possibly moving from power forward to small forward.</div>

Is Mitch even involved with rotations at all?

His days seem numbered ever since Shape made that 90 million $ post.
I remember an uproar over an article that said Odom wants a max deal. Then there was a later article where he doesn't want a max deal. I figure the latter is true, though it might have been different if he was stellar in the finals and/or the Lakers had won it.

Open deep shots? He shot 27% from three this year, and 69% from the FT line. He can only score in the paint. There will be no room for him in the paint as a SF, with Bynum and Gasol running every thing down low. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Denny Crane @ Jun 25 2008, 04:22 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>What's wrong with Odom at SF? His mid-range game isn't that game and his outside shot is horrid.
Pjax should also make up 2 lineups aside from the starting lineup (Fish, Kobe, Odom, Gasol, Bynum) wherein he splits up the talent as not to fatigue the guys 1 option: Farmar, Ariza, Kobe, Vlad, Bynum Another: Fish, Sasha, Odom, Turiaf, Gasol Both lineups will have outside shooting, and an inside presence. (This is what i do in 2k8, so the players wont get fatigued against the East All stars LOL)

He lowered his bounty to $12M-$13M per. For his reduced role on the team he's not worth it. Tex Winter was the person who convinced PJax to stop trying to use Odom at guard in the Triangle because he wasn't smart enough to learn the responsibilities and he doesn't move well without the ball in his hands.
Jerry West stated he doesn't believe that Odom/Gasol/Bynum will work, and I agree. Odom doesn't have the jumper to play the wing, and with Gasol in the high post and Bynum banging in the low post, there is no room for Odom down low. I really will be surprised if Odom is still a Laker at the beginning of next season, and I'll think Mitch is absolutely nuts (like pre-Gasol) if Odom is still a Laker by next season's trade deadline. His $14 million expiring contract can be so valuable, we really need to capitalize on it.
Giving lamar a max contract would be really stupid, i think we should just trade him for artest or prince cuz that would give us some defense and toughness that we really need
