So, I was wondering if anyone else is still doubting the move to the rotation. So far, he's been nothing short of brilliant - the Yanks are 4-1 when he starts, he's got a 2.03 ERA as a starter and has only given up 2 runs over his last 18.2 innings. To say the least, it looks like he's quickly turning into the ace of this staff, and I've gone from being doubtful about doing to it to being thrilled that we did.

Hes been good, but lets not go crazy over 5 starts....In reality, hes only had 2 quality starts and hes yet to get into the 7th inning of a start, so the bullpen, weakened already by his absence, is getting used a lot....hes been good, but he needs to go longer in games and sustain, and even if he does, they bullpen still got weaker, results withstanding, it was not a smart baseball move at the time....

I'm shocked how he has handled it so far. Though TheBeef is right, I think there has to be a bigger sample size.

I realize we do need a bigger sampling, but with what we have right now, he has been money. And he's actually gotten to the 7th, just not through it. And I believe you are wrong, I would probably consider his last three starts to be quality starts. 6.2IP and 0ER last night, 5.2IP and 1ER on 6/19, and 6IP and 1ER on 6/13. Call me crazy, but all three of those look pretty quality to me.

a quality start is defined as 3 or few runs surrendered in 6 or more innings pitched....I didnt make that up, thats the standard....pitching into the 7th and getting through the 7th are not the same thing....everything i said was 100% true

Poor start against the Rangers....because of how small the sample space is, it really effects his SP numbers....hes averaging less than 5 innings a start after 6 starts, and even if you throw out the 1st one(2.1), hes still barely getting though 5....at this point, at the very least, his starts have taxed a bullpen that is already hurt by his absence....the bullpen has been responsible for nearly 24 innings in his starts alone....over the course of a season, thats a team killing statistic....if he doesnt get it squared away and start average 6+, this will be a huge mistake and possibly the reason they fade away under the pressure of that improved division....
