Apparently Portland offered Martell Webster and Channing Frye for TJ Ford, meaning Webster is someone they are willing to part with.... He's young; he's big (6'7") and is a pretty good shooter (38.8% from behind the arc). He is also 21 years old and can grow with Rose and the rest of the team. Hinrich/Nocioni for LaFrentz/Webster (I don't know if this works under the cap) It gives Portland the PG to pair up with Roy. Hinrich is also flexible enough to play SG if Portland needs him. Furthermore, Hinrich doesn't need to come in and score, with Oden, Aldridge, and Roy. His defense will certainly help out Portland. Nocioni gives Portland a 3/4 to work into the rotation along with Outlaw (3) and Aldridge (4). It will also give them some outside shooting. Chicago does this to get a young, SG prospect to replace Gordon. It also allows them to dump cap. Rose/Gordon Webster/Gordon/Thabo Deng/Thabo Gooden/Thomas Noah/Gray Thoughts?
Interesting. We'd be giving Portland the starting PG and the starting SF they've been looking for. Webster may actually be what Hinrich is worth. The expiring $12M+ of LaFrentz's deal could be given to Gordon to keep him on the team. I'd rather see us go after a PF or C. This deal would make us a lot thinner at SF (Deng goes down, we're hurting badly). Thomas/Noah/Gray is a very weak 3/4 of the frontcourt rotation.

Gooden is solid. Noah and Thomas will continue to develop too. And since we are building for the future; this moves makes sense IMO as it clears up cap space, adds a big SG prospect to the mix to compete with Thabo in our new backcourt. We could always target a veteran wing player in free agency for cheap. We aren't competing next year anyway, according to VDN. May as well clear up cap space, add to the core, see what some of the young guys can contribute.
