    End of the era for us really. Richard was the man and stuck to our franchise unlike Kidd and many others. I'm definately sad and pissed to see him go.

    As for Yi, not a huge fan but only 20 years old.

    LOL. He finds these unique situations where a team is a little desperate and exploits that.

    Sooner or later you would think they would stop taking his calls.
    </div>
    The only thing I don't quite get right now Ghoti assuming no other trades occur is the fact that Thorn said he wanted to get tougher. Yi, a finesse perimeter based PF, isn't going to get confused with Garnett anytime so soon. Seems out of sync with what Thorn has been saying recently.
    </div>

    Every player they acquire doesn't have to make them tougher, especially if they offer other things the Nets need, which Yi does.

    This was a great return for a player they wanted off their books!

    They do have several draft picks coming up in a few hours, you know.

    I really don't know what to think of this trade. I think it is actually pretty fair.. I don't like the idea of taking on simmons, but I guess we had to. IDK why but my gut feeling is telling me hassel and Villanueva are also going to be in the deal.

    omg i LOVE this trade... im gonna tell all my chinese friends ASAP. FAN BASE + YOunger players + CAP SPACE in 2010. I'm pretty sure this is all to target lebron in 2010, lets say he doesn't there are many other great players to covet with our salary cap being really low that year... like wade and bosh.

    Bobby Simmons was injured last season and was probably none of us heard about him... but 2-3 years ago he was MIP... so he does got skillz... he just didn't get the opportunity to really play.

    as for RJ... this was a good year for him... but GM's all over the league didn't want him thinking he was injury prone(which he really isn't, but still lowers his value) and his lackadaisical defense as of late.

    Yi adds more speed to our front court also

    This is not the finished roster by a long shot.

    Yi can't be moved for 60 days or something if he is bundled with another player. Doubt he is moved again, as 1 on 1 per dollar, GS won't have much to offer... unless it's their exceptions (from the Richardson/Bobcat trade). But the fans would boycott the Nets so quick if RJ was moved just to clear $$.

    It's just from what I have heard Yi is a charmin soft player who is pretty awful on defense and can't really bang down low on offense. Doesn't seem to sit right with the Nets philosophy or at least what I thought there philosophy was.

    According to Andy Katz, the Bucks still plan to take Alexander.

    I find it funny and ironic how last night when the Raptors-Pacers trade was all but confirmed the NJN fans on this site wanted their GM to become more active with thier roster and now this trade goes down.

    My opinion on the trade is that its pretty good for both teams. The Nets dont look like they plan on contending this season so why keep RJ? You guys got a prospect who could work out very well in Yi as he is still very young and could attrack a large chinese market to NJ and fill up some of those empty seats in the stands. The bucks on the other hand got a proven scorer in RJ and with Redd and Bogut Milwaukee looks like a competitive team next season. The only questions I have are about VC, are the Nets still trying to shop him or are they going to hand the team solely over to him?

    Isn't that only if you want to trade back to the original team? Or am I making that up?

    Can we call a moratorium on calling skinny 19 year olds "charmin soft"?

    The guy is still raw. He's not any "softer" than Brandon Wright or any other underdeveloped kid.

    This gives them great length.

    They can play a front court of Boone, Williams and Yi. It would be similar to when the Nets played TMac, KVH and KMart on the same line.

    Like KMart, Sean would play an PF-O role, a SF-D role.

    Yi would play a role like KVH, SF-O, PF-D.

    They would be interchangeable based on match ups.

    wow... called it! sorta. well, I thought we'd get Villanueva and 8 instead of Yi, but I called RJ for Simmons! Simmons was a really good shooter before he was injured, hopefully he can do that again.

    I really don't care if Yi is the player the Nets need, the main point of this trade was getting RJ's contract off the books by 2010.

    RJ pretty much wore out his welcome here, good luck to the guy but see ya. One down, one to go.

    I see Vince Carter as the bandage to keep the Nets from bleeding all of their money from the empty seats in the arena.

    Yormark still needs a legitimate star to market his team around until they move to Brooklyn, and VC is the only household name left.

    Bingo, but don't discount what both Yormark and Frank can do with a guy like Yi.
