I can. Easily. Although it would be a bit paradoxical. Carter to Cleveland for Wally and picks. [IMG]

    Why would Cleveland do it?

    EDIT:
They like Wally's expiring deal, too, so they have cap space to try and re-sign LeBron.

In fact, they'll have so much cap space, they could sign a much younger player with a longer upside than Vince to go along with LeBron.

John Hollinger is a blind dog. That idiot criticized the Nets for maintaining the status quo for years.

wOW I can't believe this crap. We need a shooter & a big so we get rid of a good SF for this?? If they wanted to give away RJ why not trade with the timberwolves for their #4 pick. [IMG]

They wouldn't...they'd take him for a single expiring contract like Ben Wallace but that's about it.

NBC's Bruce Beck just said on air that the Knicks are trying to acquire Richard Jefferson from the Bucks.

I got it, lets get rid of Harris,Carter,Swat,Williams everybody else that has a contract will stay. We pick up Marbury, and couple other rejects and call it a day. This team has been going down hill since they gave away KMART

Wow... makes a lot of sense for them.

I disagree with a lot of this. Even if LeBron said there is no way he's leaving Cleveland, I'd still do this trade. Bottom line: the Nets were not winning a championship with Richard Jefferson, and his large contract hampered them from getting the parts that could possibly lead to a championship. With Yi (young guy with a lot of potential) and Simmons (10.6M expiring contract after this season), they are in better position to make a deal for a star after this year than they would if they still have Jefferson in 2009.

RE Carter: I'd love to trade Vince, but I don't see it happening this summer. However (and I don't think anybody has pointed this out yet), this team is built for Carter to put up gaudy numbers and increase his trade value. If the West goes on another "aging stars arms race" like last year, I could see teams like the Suns or Jazz making offers for him.

I agree, and I think this trade would have made a little more sense if we actually got to swap picks with the Bucks and moved up 2 spaces. They think the Bucks won't go after Alexander now, but another team could still take him.

We just traded a 23 point a game scorer for an 8 point guy, who is at best, a project, and another guy that's always hurt and has a ridiculous contract. I like that they are setting themselves up for 2010, but it sure seems like they could have a got a draft pick or a little more. This team is will lose 50+ games next year. Where are the points coming from? It was hard enough last year with an anemic offense.

Have we all forgotten the draft is tonight?

Maybe some points will come from there.

And is Yi going to average 8 pts. over his entire career? Players don't improve?

Yi averaged 8.6 ppg and 5.2 rebounds last season...he easily will get 10 and 6 this season, Sean Williams will easily get 10 and 6 this season, Josh will get 10 and 10, Devin will get 16, Vince will get 24...say that's the starting 5...that's 70 ppg from our starters...plenty of offense.

The guy regressed, is injury prone, played no defense, had a crappy attitude and a bad contract and the Nets got a lottery pick and a substantial savings along with cap room for 2010, when there are more FA than just LeBron available.

All of a sudden RJ is some kind of superstar? Please.</div>
I wouldn't call it a giveaway, but it certainly wasn't an even swap, our team got a good deal worse today. The '08-09 season is going to be awful. And someone needs to inform Thorn that Yi is no 20 year old, give that a rest. If he's 20, Danny Almonte was like 10 and Miguel Tejada is 27.

More importantly, the team will have more balance and all of the five man units should improve offensively.
