Just an opinion but if we didn't have Yi instead of RJ I think a lot more people would have been satisfied with this draft
34-48, that is what the Nets did with RJ as a major piece. I will always have fond memories of the guy but it was time for a change.
I love our draft, I really like the RJ trade. I don't know what else to day except...maybe I'll be sad when Boki and Diop go? Not really though, since we drafted their replacements.
PG - Harris / Williams SG - Carter / Douglas-Roberts / Ager SF - Jefferson / Hassell / Anderson PF - Boone / Williams / Swift C - Krstic / Lopez Looked like a tight lineup.

I'm fine with the RJ trade. We got a 20-ish year old player with great potential and were able to free up some money for 2010 for Bron. Who doesn't like that?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Universe @ Jun 27 2008, 01:13 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>PG - Harris / Williams SG - Carter / Douglas-Roberts / Ager SF - Jefferson / Hassell / Anderson PF - Boone / Williams / Swift C - Krstic / Lopez Looked like a tight lineup.</div> So, essentially, the same exact lineup that yielded a 11-18 (I think) team after the Kidd trade? The only thing that essentially changed was swapping Boki and Diop with Anderson and Lopez, if I'm not mistaken. And we added CDR and subtracted Armstrong. Granted, the rookies may look nice on paper, but they're still rookies. That team would not have performed any better than last year's team after the all-star break. A change needed to be made, and it was made. And chances are Rod and Kiki are not done making changes yet.
Well in past drafts we seem to overlook some very good players. it's very hard anyway to get good players pick for pick, we may have done that tonight. maybe not. I think Kiki being heavilly involved in restructuring the franchise brings it's own worries, so I think that mingles with the general draft jitters as well. All in all, moving RJ is a relief in itself, but as far as drafting tonight, CDR saves it all, and that was a huge crapshoot. Kiki either got REALLY lucky today, or he's got spies all over.
Do we really know how the team could have done after a full offseason together? We will never find out but you just don't know especailly with the rookies we picked up. I know it's a relief to get rid of the contract before LeBron expires but maybe we should have waited till after the draft to at least see who we were drafting?

I liked both the deal and the draft when viewed seperately but the Anderson pick bothers me as he is extremely similar to Yi...it seems like either Courtney Lee or the BPA Darrell Arthur would have been the better selection at that point. As for Lopez/Bayless...I understand why some people are bummed about passing on Bayless however Lopez to me will be 17 and 9 type player and eventual starting Center whereas Bayless would be Devin's caddy...Lopez had more value. To those who love Boone...and I'm one of the many people who does...Boone is a solid player who should get 30 minutes per game coming off the bench in the long term.
I'm torn. I like getting Yi, but I don't like losing RJ. But Thorn has a great track record with trades; so I'll wait a bit and see how it plays out. RJ is the last remnant of those NBA Finals days, so in a way it's fitting we trade him on a night we make a significant shift in our team's era. Byron gone; Harris gone; KMart gone; Kittles gone; Twin gone; Kidd gone; RJ gone... 2010 will be a VERY VERY fun summer. Aside from the LBJ talk... lest we forget we own our pick and the Mavs unprotected first round pick, which by then may well be a lottery pick!

You're right, that is a pretty tight lineup. Yi won't be close to RJ's level for at least a couple more years.
