Now that they used RJ to get a young PF prospect in Yi, it could make sense to use him with expiring contracts + filler to get a PF like Brand.

    Yi
    Marcus
    Future first
    Swift
    Van Horn's contract

    for

    Brand

Clippers get a young PF prospect to put beside Kaman. And they give Marcus a ride at PG and see if he can fill the role.

They would have a young core of:

    Marcus/Livingston
    Gordon
    Thorton
    Yi
    Kaman

    Nets would have:

    Harris/
    Carter/CDR
    Simmons/
    Brand/S.Williams/Boone
    Krstic/Lopez

They could extend Brand for an extra year on his contract so they would have two big expiring contracts before the 2010 free agency and still be competitive the next two years.

I'm going to vote yes just because of the photoshop.

Although looking at that Clippers roster, that's a lot of relatively unproven youth. I guess they would do this if they plan on being the "next blazers" in the West, but I see them getting better.

I agree with Ghoti, any talks will now have to start with Lopez.

We aren't going after Elton...it goes against everything the Nets are trying to do...get cap space, depth and young talent.

That's true, but they shouldn't be averse to winning, either.

That LeBron thing is still a pretty big long shot. I'd like them to keep an open mind about things.

If they get Brand and sign him to one extra year they would still have their target capspace for the summoer of 2010. Both Simmons and Brand will expire at that time. They will still have young talent and they can still manage to fill out their depth with their MLE and trade exception.

I do think we will trade a few of our younger guys, like Sean and Ager for a vet wing. I dont know who yet.

I do know that I would like a Stromile for Earl Watson deal( 2 years left for Watson 1 for Stro)

Here's a fun fact I would trade Yi Jianlian, CDR our 2009 first and Dalla's 2010 first for Kevin Martin tomorrow.

He's a talented guy, but I think he is too thin and fragile to trade that much for.

    That's a package for a title-contender type big man.

Martin isnt the kind of guy that gets dealt though.

A young future all star with a great contract and great attitude.

Hes the player you create as yourself when you play NBA Live

    How about Harris for Martin.

Then Marcus Williams can start like we all know he should because Lawrence Frank isnt fair to him....

Brand's not that old and the man can play, pure and simple. Yi can only DREAM to have numbers anywhere close to him. Elton hustles, boards, posts, and plays great D. I love his game. If we get him, we can safely expect close to 20-10 every year, not to mention he's a great character guy in the locker room from what I hear.

    Harris
    VC
    Simmons
    Brand
    Lopez/Kristic

That's a 45 win team easily next year and maybe even 50 if Nenad can play or Lopez develops.

I'd like Yi to be on the team but realistically Brand is a difference maker IMO. Yi migth be in a few years, but he's not right now.

He's young, has a reasonable contract and is a TRUE SHOOTING GUARD

    Honestly...

    PG: Devin Harris, Marcus Williams
    SG: Kevin Martin
    SF: Vince Carter, Ryan Anderson
    PF: Nenad Krstic, Sean Williams
    C: Josh Boone, Brook Lopez

    That's a pretty nice lineup...

    better yet

    PG: Devin Harris, Marcus Williams
    SG: Kevin Martin
    SF: Lebron James, Ryan Anderson
    PF: Sean Williams
    C: Brook Lopez, Josh Boone

I think kevin Martin's got serious game also, but he's one of the best young guards in the league already. I can't see SacTown trading him away anytime soon, especially for Yi.

If SacTown is moving someone, its Artest.
He can likely be had for 10 cents on the dollar... and if Kiki is serious about fallen angels... no one has fallen farther than RonRon.

Rather have the 1'st and anything thats expiring because Ron Artest is probably exactly what this really young team doesnt need in terms of leadership.
