Joe Dumars said both Plaisted and Washington will spend the summer with the Pistons and then head overseas for seasoning.

"We make a list of all the kids who say yes (to playing in Europe) who we like," Dumars said. "Those two kids were kids who said yes." --</div>

So how does this work, if someone can tell me.

So the player goes to Europe plays a few seasons and then whenever the team wants, he can come back and sign for a contract?

Yep, but there is a time frame that we gotta sign him.

So Dumars didn't want to add any guaranteed salary to the team and didn't want to trade for future draft picks. That is an interesting strategy

I understand why Joe selected these guys, although we have needs for a backup Small Forward, a Centre and Point Guard. I would've liked to have seen him take a chance on DeAndre Jordan, Devon Hardin or Bill Walker, but I suspect Joe has somthing else in mind.

I can't see any of these guys becoming permanent fixtures.
