thanks guys, it's helpful. you are so professional bball fans!

even though Yi is PF, he could run faster than some common guards, so i think his speed could be enough to Harris and VC.
when yi is in the court, more fast breaks is a good choice, besides pick and roll. especially comparing his speed with strength.

i'd like to hope that nets' offense will be faster than golden state</div>
You'll be severely disappointed then. GS has a free offense where the term "bad shot" doesn't exist. Outside of Nelson and D'Antoni, there are no coaches who would allow that sort of thing.
Plus, GS lineup is extremely small. NJ is one of the tallest teams in the league right now.

Yeah, but Devin loves to get out on the break. If Yi loves to get out on the break, too, then all the better for him - I think it's only Devin, Sean, sometimes Vince and Boone who like to get out on the break; of the players who are currently on our team.

If Yi gets out on the break as much as Devin, that just means more opportunities for Yi.

until now, Kidd was the focal point of the Nets' offense, so wht things will be like with Harris/Carter is anyone's guess. Coach Frank will have a better sense on how to use everyone--including the players acquired from Dallas--during trainign camp (not to mention that Devin will be healthy).

Coach Frank gets a lot of complaints regarding some of his plays, decision-making, and ability to get the players to execute. This will be a big test for him.

That said, he is primarily committed to defense. If you can play defense, or are a dead-eye mid-range shooter, you'll play.

I suspect that Boki and Diop will not be resigned. I don't know about Krstic. Not only has he had trouble regaining his shooting touch since his injury, but his defense has been atrocious, and I see these recent changes as a way to reassert the Nets' former defensive mindset (getting rid of RJ, the draft picks, etc.).

Carter's defemse is underrated. Heck, everything about Carter is underrated. He's a tremendous player. Many fans still are down on him because they want him to be something he isn't, but what he is is a prolific, dominant scorer who has been an iron man since acquired by the Nets. Last year he was hampered all year by an injury that required surgery--look at his stats in that light.

Boone is pretty good, but he should be a backup center, and he'd just clean up. Boone is a great offensive rebounder and has an amazing touch around the basket. His biggest lilabilities, as I see it, is he has no jump shot; can't shoot free throws (although he was making a lot of progress during the season), and when he makes a mistake on defense he often stops and beats himself up inside WHILE THE PLAY IS STILL GOING ON. He needs to learn to just shrug his mistakes off and instinctively recover the best he can while the ball is still in play. Other than that, he's a pretty good positional defender.

They still have a little bit of deadwood on the roster, most notably Swift and Hassell. I don't know anything about Simmons, to be honest. They will make another deal, or a sign-and-trade for a free agent, using one or both of them and possibly KVH's contract.

Sean Williams is a tremendous athlete who is a little nutty. He needs to add stamina and learn to make better decisions, but his athleticism is just unreal.

Most fans are down on Marcus Williams, who is the backup PG. He has not grown, often makes poor decisions, and looks lackadaisical on defense. However, in his support, many PGs experience the most growth between their first and second seasons, and he was really hindered by a broken foot he suffered during last year's training camp which caused him to miss a chunk of time at the beginning of the season. I suspect he also suffered backing up Kidd, that it didn't do much for his confidence. We'll see what happens with him. At any rate, the Nets will have three PGs on the roster, so, even if they don't deal him, they'll acquire one more.

Julius Hodge will probably make the team and will compete with CDR, Simmons, and Hassell for minutes.

I personally believe, and I think the Nets believe, that every successful team has an established identity, and that the players on the team bust buy into and fit into that identity. I think the Nets want their identity to be one of strong perimeter defense, protecting the rim, a team that can run but not at the expense of defense, decent outside shooting, especially among the big men (that's why they loved Krstic when he could still play) and a team that is committed to sharing the ball.

I have no idea how Yi will fit in to all of this.

also, let me add that no one knows shat to expect from Devin Harris. What is he capable of? It is conventional wisdom that his development (and ability) was hampered in Dallas by a coach who restricted bis improvisational skills. When he came to the Nets, he was injured and was hampered in that sense.

Wht is he capable of when given a free rein? No one knows.
