If you’re in a fire sale mode, how about Wally (Expiring Contract) Szczerbiak for Vince Carter? The Nets kicked it around but then declined … perhaps because if they had, the only fans at IZOD would have been friends and families of the Chinese ambassador to the UN. But, oh, the cap space.</div> http://www.nj.com/nets/index.ssf/2008/06/giant_steps.html
I've always liked Carter's game, but not his attitude. Ever since I saw the way he played in Toronto when he wanted out, I've known I never want him on a team I support. If he decides he wants out, he'll stop trying and will kill the team's chances. If he can rectify his attitude, maybe he would be worth having. If, however, LeBron wants Vince, then we need to get him.
They aren't big names like Vince Carter, but what would you think of Steve Blake, Joel Przybilla and Raef LaFrentz for Szcerbiak and Ilgauskas? Steve Blake is probably as good a PG as LeBron has ever had. For Portland, Storyteller's site says Ilgauskas' contract isn't guaranteed for 2009-2010 and losing Przybilla's contract would give Portland more options in the summer of 2009.
