My friend is a die-hard fan of Yi, but his fav players is CP3. Having being told he is the most blocked player in the NBA this year(boki second), I actually dissed my friend.... Well I guess in HK, its quite different than mainland China, people here like all types of players(vc for me) whereas in mainland China people like Yao and Yi. But its really amazing, never thought Yi had such influence even on a forum board...

I guess I just figured all players are available to basketball fans in China - and that fans simply were proud of their nationality, and rooted for their own. The trade really sparks and excites the fans.. opening up a huge market for Nets and Yomark. With Yi on the Nets I really do hope he plays well, it sure feels like he fits well with Carter and Harris.
Well, since the fact of playing Marcus and Devin at the same time was well liked by the Nets, and Vince is an original Small Foward I'm going with something like this. - M.Williams / D. Armstrong - D.Harris / C.D.R. / M.Ager - V.Carter / T.Hassel / B.Simmons / R.Anderson - Yi / S.Williams - J.Boone / B.Lopez *As you can tell, no Nachbar, Nenad, nor Diop.

See if he can bounce back and become more valuable. I would try to trade KVH contract, Ager and Hassell to Seattle for Watson and Wilkins (both expire 2010). Saves Seattle some money and we get back-up pg and wing. Trade Marcus for a future pick... 2nd rounder... heavily protected 1st... i don't care. Lineup: C: Krstic/Lopez/S. Williams PF: Yi/Boone/Swift SF: Simmons/Wilkins/Anderson SG: Carter/CDR PG: Harris/Watson Decent mix of vets and young guys.</div> Like the Seattle trade, I thought of a similar one, it makes sense after they drafted Westbrook and they are going young. I dont know what the market is for Krstic, so I agree hell stay for at least a little while longer. I would start Lopez in your scenario though. I would want one more SG though. Maybe take a flier on Bellineli(and a 2nd) for Sean Williams Or Swift, Ager, and S.Williams for Harrington and Bellineli. Harrington fits into the master plan, deal saves GS some money, so they can hang onto some of their bigger players. Either way I would like to trade Swift for a shooter, and trade Marcus, maybe for Reddick. Or Marcus and Krstic for Reddick and Batie. Krstic fits with Orlando bc hes more effective from 15 feet, while Howards most effective 15 feet above the rim. </div> Wilkins and Watson can both play some 2 guard. Both add more defense and toughness to the team too. The key is to add more vets and let the rookie guys have a significant role as back-ups. The only guy we should put more pressure on is Yi. He has a year under his belt and significant international play. I see Wilkins as wing insurance and as the season progresses I would hope CDR gets significant minutes at back-up wing. Lopez I see getting significant minutes at back-up center. If Krstic isn't around I see Boone starting alongside Yi. As the season winds down I think a 9 man rotation of Harris, Carter, Simmons, Yi, Krstic, Lopez, Boone, CDR and Watson. Occasional Anderson and Swill. Maybe some of that changes if Anderson and Swill outshine others, but it's a good starting point to strive for with flexibility depending on how guys perform. Not one of those guys will feel entitled to significant minutes (like a Pietrus or Barnes signing). You kind of need an additional wing that will allow CDR time to grow. Another young guy will cut into his opportunities and it's hard to get a decent free agent signing that will sign only a 2 year deal. I think Wilkins works well in that role and has only 2 years left. Him and Simmons basically duking it out for a role.
Put this in the other thread but it probably deserves to go here. PG-----Harris -------------------Pargo (MLE) SG-----VC-----------------------CDR SF------Childress(S &T)--------Simmons PF------Yi------------------------SWAT----------Anderson C-------Lopez-------------------Boone----------Howard I basically see 3 glaring needs for this team. Athletic Wing Player - Preferably someone who can play either the 2 or 3 so that way we can afford to matchup VC on the easier/less mobile player defensively. Athleticism is probably the #1 thing I would be looking for out of this player because we are going to need someone to run the floor with Devin. Obviously in the FA market Pietrus is an appealing option, the one thing that worries me is his attitude/work ethic. I can't understand what the problem was between him and Nellie. In the RFA/UFA market there are some interesting names (Ben Gordon, Maggette, Deng, Smith) however they are likely all out of our price range. Josh Childress is the one guy who I think could be obtainable since the Hawks have a replacement on their roster (Marvin Williams) and will likely try to resign Josh Smith first. Childress to me would be an excellent addition because he is a solid defender, and all around solid contributer. He's a very efficient player who shoots good %'s and could be a perfect role player. So basically here my Plan A - Childress (using expiring deals or trade exceptions), Plan B - Pietrus (MLE) Backup PG - This is something every team looks for constantly, a solid backup PG who can come in and run the team. Marcus is as talented as any backup PG in the league but he simply does not have the backup mentality. A few things I would look for in the backup PG - defensive intensity, shooting ability, and ideally someone who can play some 2 guard as well. There are a solid amount of Free Agents out there (Anthony Johnson, Roger Mason, Chris Duhon, Anthony Carter) but for my money the best guy to get would be Jannero Pargo. He is set to be a FA (he will supposedly opt out of his 1 year PO). He really showed a lot last year with all the PT he going in the postseason. He can shoot, he can defend, and he is not afraid to play at important times of the game. He would likely cost all of the MLE as the contract he would opt out of is worth 4 mil. Plan A - Pargo (MLE or trade exceptions), Plan B Lowery/Duhon/Anthony Carter (LLE or part of MLE or trade) Veteran Big Man - This is the need that is for me the hardest to pinpoint. Obviously a trade for a big time player would be great but at this point that would be almost impossible. The FA pickings are slim and really right now we have too many bigs as it is. Ideally I think the easiest way to go would be to get a player who will likely ride the pine for most of the year and serve as more of a coach/mentor then anything else. I would hope that we could find a really experienced, perhaps over the hill, cheap veteran to fill this role. Kurt Thomas is a name that is out there. Maybe a Scott Pollard or Jeff Foster? Some other options here could be Michael Doleac, Lorenzen Wright. My plan A would be Juwon Howard (assuming he accepts his role ahead of time). Plan B - Kurt Thomas, Wright, Doleac (LLE)
PG-Devin Harris,Marcus SG-VC,CDR,Ager SF- Boki,YI,,Simmons PF-Area51,Anderson C-Brook ,Lopez,Boone WE should get rid of boone & Ager for a shooter
PG- Harris, Williams, Armstrong SG- VC, CDR, Ager, Hassell SF- Yi, Simmons, Anderson, Hassell PF- Area51, Krstic, Anderson, Yi C- Lopez, Boone, Diop, Area51 Have Area51 play d on the SF when Yi is in. Put Simmons in the game with either Yi, Anderson or if we have to Kristic. Lopez should start but not right away. Hopefully we can have Diop for when our big men are in trouble because of his d. But we need the athleticism and the energy and even leadership ability(more energy) that Williams brings to the team, thats why he is starting.

Personally, I expect Frank to give the starting spots to more experienced players - at first, at least. I still see Harris-Vince-Simmons-Krstic - Boone. If Krstic isn't with the team, I think it'll be Yi - he brings th skillset Frank likes on offense. Oh, and I don't think Diop will stay with the team - all these reports seem to point to the opposite. BTW, welcome to S2, netsking! If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.
