<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Within hours of the trade’s confirmation, the Nets’ marketing efforts were in full swing. Their Web site had a splash page of Yi in a Nets uniform, announcing, “Something big has come to New Jersey.” They offered a free Yi jersey to everyone who purchased a season ticket. According to Yormark, the Nets sold 200 season tickets in the 36 hours after the trade.</div> http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/28/sports/b...amp;oref=slogin I remember a similar event after they got Carter, anyone remember how many more tickets they sold once the Nets traded for Vince?
That's IT? just 200!?! Unimpressive... I guess people don't really care about nets right now. Wait until a few preseason games and after the olympics. Thats when the cash cow will be milked. Yi is the number 2/3 option on the Chinese National Team after Yao. Hopefully he has a very very very successful summer
this month is only june. America has been the very destinations for groups of Chinese leisure travelers since 2008-6-18. Maybe there will be more and more Chinese travelers who will buy tickets to watch nets and rockets games. buy jersey or other goods as souvenir.

If Yi can somehow get Howard into foul trouble and our shots aren't dropping then there's a shot, but I have high expectations for team USA. Kidd is undefeated in Olympic play and I think that will continue.

Regarding the US vs China matchup on August 10, Dwight Howard and Chris Bosh vs Yao and Yi is what I'll be watching. Howard has admitted many times that Yao is his toughest opponent, and Yi matches up well against Bosh, and has had success against him in the past. Other than the front court, China has no chance.

I think USA might hit a bit of trouble. I think it was a big mistake to cut Tyson Chandler. Chandler is like the prototypical Olympics center skill wise, but is bigger and more physically gifted than most. You don't want a repeat of Athens, where your main center; Duncan in 2004, gets in foul trouble. Argentina and Greece are the teams most likely to knock us off imo. It's a shame that Great Britain won't be in Division 1 until 2012. It'll be fun watching Gordon and Deng in international play, it'll be interesting to see how a foreign team built around a duo that will then be playing together for 8 years works out. They should be playing in something this summer, it would be cool for them to scrimmage GB in Las Vegas or something, so Gordon can play (since Gordon might not play because of insurance issues if the Bulls don't resolve his free agent status quick enough). Not really a big fan of how they constructed the roster, I'd like more shooters (Gordon would have been good before he shifted to GB). Not sure who all declined invites, but I would probably cut Kidd and Wade from the current team, and replace them with Tyson Chandler and Jason Kapono.
^ I know Jason Kidd might not be as revered as he once was, and I know he's past his prime, but cutting him from the Olympic team is a dumb move.
Yeah, I guess you need some vet leadership, and it'd probably be disrespectful. I still don't get why Tyson Chandler isn't on the team. He is the perfect center for international play. Don't see why we need Dwyane Wade over him. It seems like the guys who pick the team fell for star power too much...once again.
GB in division 1 will be the end of USA basketball. Papa Naw Mensah-Bonsu will destroy everyone; he takes what he wants, when he wants.

That's what Yi can bring you, even before he offcially wear a Nets jersey. Many Chinese in America will pay to watch the kid from their homeland.

Mike Miller might be a better basketball player, but if he still has that girly haircut and is still wearing lip gloss, I want no part of him representing the United States in the olympics.

That's why USA didn't win recent Olympic ganes and FIBA Championships. You really need to study your main opponents such as Greece, Spain, Argentina, Lithuasnia, Russia, etc. As for China, we are not fighting for a medal (even a bronze one), we are fighting for our best result in Olympics (former best is 8th). So we are not worrying about USA, you shouldn't neither.
