I can't remember exactly and haven't gone back to check, but hasn't Yao's presence on the Rockets helped guys like Battier rack up a surprisingly large amount of All-Star votes? So what will Yi's presence do for Nets players? Carter (if he's still around)has a chance with the help of online Chinese voters to make a return to the starting lineup of the All-Star game. If Devin picks up his game could he be another top vote getter? Poor RJ, Yi could have helped him get more votes but he is on the Bucks now. And what is happening in this Yi commercial?

Did he get caught flirting with another girl by his girlfriend and offered them both milk to smooth things out?
Its a 3some!! btw last year yi didnt really help any buck get votes... He did, however, get more votes than Michael Redd.
I always wondered how China perceived basketball. Players get ridiculous amounts of votes every year, but is that because the Chinese care about basketball, or because it's sort of like a stick-it-to-America thing? That might be a dumb, maybe even insulting question, but I've just always figured that basketball, although a "global" game was only this huge in the states. I mean, would the average Chinese citizen recognize Yi Jianlian?
I say if VC is here next season, while Yi is our starting PF averaging anything close to 15 ppg, VC is a starter in the all-star game. No question about that. China will broadcast all the Nets games, and VC will become the favourite player of many chinese bball fans. That's why they will vote for him. That's why they were voting for T-mac and Battier last year. I's nothing about "stick-it-to-America". And yes of course the average Chinese citizen can recognize Yi Jianlian. He is in a lot's of TV commercials.
the reason Yi did not help any BUCK's player get into ALL star is Yi was not at the voteing list at all, if we want to vote Yi, we have to write his name and vote, the process was complex and all in english so a lot people just give up but still he was 5th at Forward. if Yi can be in the list this year and VC in the list too, there is no doubt they all can be the starting five of east ALL STAR. just think abt how much voting Tmac get these years and VC also has a lot fans at china. another thing I want to say, now at Rockets six players got contract with chinese sneakers company even some of them are subs at Rockets, there is no way they can got that big contract from Nike or adidas these may happen on some Nets players too.

That would be sweeeet.

Yeah, this Yi deal pretty much seals VC's starting spot in the All-Star game. If Devin puts up big numbers, he might go too...
that'd be great to see vc and harris at the all star game haha... omg... but i hope when they go they deserve it... (meaning they actually perform at allstar level! )
The only way Harris will get in is if the Nets are a good team record wise. They don't give players a first time all star spot unless the team is really performing well as well as the player. IMO, it really depends on how the team does.
If VC throws Yi a couple of alleys a game for the first half, and there's some puff pieces about the VC-Yi connection, VC might get more votes than Lebron. I'm being serious. I think something like 300 million peopel in China watched Yi and Yao's first game. 300 million I hate combo guards but Devin's got some serious skills and should get more votes also. This is all contingent on Yi actually playing 30 minutes a game and not sucking it up. As for that video...all I can say is WTH. Reminded me of the old Madonna videos that told a mini story, kinda like Papa Don't Preach.
I see Yi's numbers going up bringing more consideration for other Nets players. I think that Carter is almost guaranteed to be in the all star game now. And i think that Harris has a chance if he plays big like he did his Nets debut. I think that Shawn Williams might get some consideration if he locks up his D and blocks more shot and of course finds a way to score some points.(10ppg, 10rpg, 3bpg). Other than that i don't see another rookie making it to the all star roster.

TMac's was top sell for a few years already, even though he's not as good as Kobe.

And think it's fun to make them play with the best player of the NBA in the all stars game, That's the main reason they got many Chinese votes. I don't know what is a "stick-it-to-America thing", but I think not because of that.
... real great. The 2009 Eastern Conference All-Stars, the New Jersey Nets starting 5... the worst All-Star team in history! -Petey
Yi will only help other Nets get into the all-star game if they get enough votes to start. I can see that happening with Carter, but not with Harris.
