If so, it could work well to play him at SF with sweet shooting Yi or Anderson at PF. It would be reminiscent of the Martin/Van Horn pairing.

I heard hes putting on weight. So they look to be going the other way w. him, Getting him ready for the 4.

Plus I like him in the paint helping out on D

His defense in general has been poor. I like his ability to get up and block shots, but his help defense has really disappointed me. I think he is better suited to gaurd 4's. As he really doesnt do a great job closing out and often gets beat by that first step.

to overstate the obvious i think he really needs to continue to learn HOW to play defense.

He definitely needs to improve his defensive IQ. He's too focused on blocking shots and doing nothing else. How many times did he allow his opponent to drive by him only so he could try and block his shot from behind? He needs to stop that because he'll get burned more often than not and it requires his teammates to come and help, potentially leaving someone else wide open.

Rookies have it very rough. They spend two months workout out for teams and attending draft camps, not improving their game or working on their strngth. Immediately after getting drafted, they have to find an apartment and move, and then they are immediately off to play in the summer league. Then they get a chance to get settled, and then it is training camp. That's why players make a great improvement between their first and second years, because they can devote time to working on their weaknesses. Of course, Sean had that added problem of not playing much in the months before the draft. This will be an important year for him; hopefully he can focus and make some improvements.

I think hes defiantly athletic enough, but i doubt it if he continues to add on weight. He can sure block though so it may be better to keep him in the paint anyway. He is one of my favorite players so i wanna see him on the field as much as possible.

SWAT's too slow to guard the 3, but with some more experience he'll guard the 4 very well. He has the ability to be a sick defender...he's working on that with Kiki atm.

But he does know how to play in general. He should help Swat to take advantage of his rediculous athleticism and help him be more fluent in the post. I mean he did show the potential to score. WHile he was really raw and sloppy, there were some games where he would throw moves out there and hit shots and you were like where the hell did that come from. Even when he took those turn around jumpers, there were times that i thought they were actually going in because they werent too ugly looking.

We've been looking for a shot blocker for how many seasons now? We finally get one and we want him to guard perimeter guys? Frank had Sean guard the 3 a couple times last season and it was just dumb. Put that kid in the paint and keep him there. If anybody, let Yi slide to the 3 spot.

I hope he can get it together, I have a soft spot for defensive minded centres and forwards, and he has been on my radar since before last years draft. He has the intangibles to be a solid NBA player.

SWat can't defend anyone one-on-one...he is effective as a help defender and has to be assigned to someone who is somewhat limited offensively like a ben wallace and prowl around the basket waiting for someone stupid enough to invade his airspace...perimeter defenders just have to funnel their man into SWat area...he can also be effective as an energy/utility guy who gets you second chances crashing the offensive boards...he also needs to get a little nasty and knock people driving inside on their butts sometimes and also to take charges in the lane to complete the intimidation factor...

Actually he's working with Kiki on improving his jump shot. Something he can actually help with.

this is the pessimistic view. he is incredibly athletic who hasn't played much basketball in his life. . . . athletic people can learn to do anything that requires athletic skills. It's just up to his mindset (whether he wants to do better) and his work ethic.
