<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Los Angeles Clippers guard Corey Maggette told friends over the weekend that he was encouraging the Orlando Magic to make a competitive offer in free agency, allowing him to return to the team where he started his NBA career nine years ago. "I think he'd come back in a heartbeat," said a Maggette friend who is close to both the player and the Magic organization. "It's something he'd love to see happen."</div> Orlando Sentinel
sounds nice and all, but the almighty dollar speaks loudest and with him getting up there in years, he doesn't have a big window of opportunity to sign a big and long contract. The MLE probably won't be enough to attract him to the team when he's offered 10mil+ over several years.
If they could make it work, he does add some scoring to a team that already looks to be a serious contender next season....a starting lineup of Nelson, Magette, Turk, Lewis, and Howard is about as long and athletic as any in the league, but I do worry about Lewis wearing down again if hes forced to play the 4....
The Magic are over the cap, I guess they could offer him MLE or do a sign and trade, but what do the Magic have that the Clippers would want?
