So the Nets need some veteran help. Brand doesn't appear to be an option but what about Marcus Camby?

He has two years left on his contract so he fits into the 2010 free agency thing.

He can really rebound the ball and blockshots and could compliment Krstic in the starting frontcourt. You can also pair him up with Yi and it could be fun to see him and Sean patrol the paint.

He seems like the best fit at this point for what's out there and for what the Nets need.

    What about a package of:

    Swift
    Van Horn
    Marcus Williams

    for

    Camby

Van Horn's salary could come off their cap immediately giving them luxury tax relief and they get a young PG prospect and a backup big in Swift who has an expiring contract. They would still have Martin and Nene as their starting front-court.

Then the Nets would need to get some more shooting and offense in their lineup so try to acquire Mike Miller:

    Bobby Simmons
    Future 1st round pick

    for

    Mike Miller

Don't know if the Wolves are looking to trade him and other teams are probably trying to get him as well. But just for my lineup fantasy lets say it goes through.

Get a backup PG in free agency.

    Nets lineup:

    Harris/Dooling
    Carter/CDR/Ager
    Miller/Nachbar?/Hassell
    Krstic/Yi/S.Williams/Anderson
    Camby/Boone/Lopez

Something I guess has to be done about that front court logjam.

First off, Simmons and Miller are both untradeable right now because they've been recently traded.

2nd, I wouldn't really want to bring Camby over right now since we're not in "win now" mode, and by the time we will be (2-3 years from now, probably), he won't be of much use anymore. No reason to bring him over, especially with our crowded front court rotation. I'd rather let the young guys play more minutes.

I believe they can be traded right now as long as they are not packaged with other players and they also have similar contracts.

And I hope they try to bring in some quality vets that can help make the Nets more competitive next season. Just what to do about all those young guy in the front court.

Oh, really? Cool, didn't know that.

The front court is the big problem here, since we want to develop all 68 of our young big men. I think bringing in a former star big man, someone who won't demand a lot of minutes (someone like Uncle Cliffy used to be for us), who can come in and do the dirty work, and teach the youngsters a thing or two. I can't think of anyone right now, but that would be better than a guy like Camby who'll expect 25-30 mpg.

I dont know how interested we are in older vets at this point. And we might also have to make a better deal for Denver. Like Boone or Sean.

Im a Mike Miller fan, I dont know if the Wolves make that deal, and also we need to maximize our 1st round picks. What happens when Millers deal expires in 2010, we cant bring him back obviously.

Im not saying we should sit on our hands until Lebron comes over, but we should develop the younger talent and make wise financial moves, and hit on our draft picks.

Minnesota was actually really surprised and excited that Memphis relented and included Miller in the deal for Mayo so I don't think they're looking to deal him away so quickly. I still think Camby would be a great addition only because we have so many young players and no one to really show them the way, especially now that Cartwright is gone.

If we are gonna suck. I really want the team to suck. None of this 8th seed or 11th and 12th round picks.

I hope Frank plays Lopez/Sean/Yi/CDR/Harris 36-40 minutes a game 82 games next year.

Camby is definitely available but not for such a crappy package.

Minnesota has no reason to trade Mike Miller, especially for such a crappy package. Memphis turned down better offers for Miller last year than what you are proposing.

No argument there. We still need someone to show our kids the way though, that's my thinking behind getting Camby, but i'm all for learning though experience.

VC + Marcus for Camby and a signed JR Smith (5 years $40M)

Nets get a young piece and $9M more under the 2010 cap

Nugs get one of the few SGs who it makes sense to pair with AI in the back court since he can initiate the offense and let AI play off the ball

We may have to add a pick or another youngster since Denver will be taking on extra salary
