Barca Offer Eto’o For Trezeguet <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Trezeguet has been heavily linked with a move to Barca over the past month or so, and the striker is said to be high up on new coach Josep Guardiola’s summer shopping list. A few days ago Blaugrana director Ferran Soriano claimed that the club had ended its interest in the prolific Frenchman, who scored 20 Serie A goals last season. “Trezeguet is a great striker but he is no longer a part of our plans,” he told Tuttosport. However, the Corriere today claims that Barca are still desperate to sign the 30-year-old, and are prepared to offer Samuel Eto’o as part of an exchange deal. Eto’o is looking highly likely to leave the Camp Nou this summer in search of a new challenge away from Spain. The Cameroon hitman, who has scored 89 goals in just 136 games during his time at Barca, would welcome a move to Italy. It is also reported that Juventus may accept such an exchange, if Barcelona choose to make an official offer.</div>
Trezeguet is one of the best strikers in the World and his country's third best striker of all-time based on goals scored. Why wouldn't you want someone who is still very consistent in an extremely difficult league to score in over someone like Eto'o who has been injury prone and inconsistent. Since 2000, Trez has scored 130 league goals in 216 league matches. This excludes his numbers in European competition. Take a look at his numbers the past few seasons with Juventus. 2003/04 Serie A campaign: 35 total appearances, 22 goals (European competition included in numbers) 2004/05 Serie A campaign: 23 total appearances, 14 goals (European competition included in numbers, injured for half of Serie A season) 2005/06 Serie A campaign: 42 total appearances, 29 goals (European competition included in numbers) 2006/07 Serie B campaign: 32 total appearances, 15 goals (No Euro comp) 2007/08 Serie A campaign: 34 total appearances, 20 goals (No Euro comp) Note that his career numbers are 220 goals in 390 matches with 27 goals in only 44 matches played in European competition for Juventus alone. That's an average of .613 goals per match. The last three European campaigns he had for Juventus he averaged .736 goals per match, signaling that he's still nowhere near his peak, despite his age as a striker. Trez is also very loyal. I think that him not being selected for EURO 2008 is a big shock for most people considering his records and recent successes. To me, he was the biggest loss to the French team; more-so then les Bleus captain Patrick Vieira.
I was surprised when France left him out. He should have been there over Henry IMO, who is at the end of his career. But I agree M21, he's a damn good striker, and I know Barca would love to have him on their team.

I still think he's a fantastic striker, but I'd rather have someone who is more reliable and loyal. When comparing stats for both players though Trez averages .564 career goals per match, while Eto'o averages .505 career goals per match.
Haha! Don't even give me those statistics M! I still think they should hold on to Eto'o - Or sell him to Arsenal.
Eto'o needs a change of scenery. Barca won't find a lot of strikers like Trezeguet on the market, since world class strikers aren't usually for sale. Sounds like a good fit.
