As I predicted, and many of you said NO WAY IN HELL [IMG] , James Posey HAS opted out of his contract. Teams that will pursue him are the Lakers, Hornets, Rockets, Cavaliers, and Pistons.

I think JVG and Mark Jackson skyrocketed James Posey's value. There were half a dozen occaisions where they were praising him as the best role player a coach could ever want. lol. It ought to be interesting to see what he can reel in.

I'm willing to bet that he's going back to Boston. I guess I don't care if the Lakers pursue him. He is a good player and would be a good addition to this squad. However, I still am not a fan of him.

80% chance that he goes back to Boston.

We'll find out in the next few days.

I thought Shane Battier was that player for Houston, good perimeter defender, can hit the 3, takes charges, just doesn't make the occaisional dirty play that Posey does.

I would like to see Posey on this team of course.

I know Moo hates him because of what he did to the Bulls, but we need to just focus on winning.

Nobody said NO WAY IN HELL POSEY IS OPTING OUT

It was pretty much a given with the way he played in the Finals that he was opting out. Based on his contract, he was only going to get paid about 3 million next year. That being said, he's not going anywhere. The Celtics aren't stupid, they're going to give him the money he deserves, and he's staying in Boston.

Posey would be a great fit on this team, cuz he plays great defense and can guard the best gurad/forward on the opposite team, and he wouldnt mind comin off the bench, but i guess that means luke or vlady have to go because the Lakers are loaded at the small forward postion

And winning is precisely why I'd be ok with signing him. I could care less that I hate him, but he's a damn good player and would get us some added depth, as well as some much needed toughness. Plus, no one ever said I had to like every player on my team....and since I already hate Luke Walton, he could join the club of players on the Lakers that I despise.
