Baron Davis has reached a verbal agreement to sign with the Clippers for a 5 year/$65 million dollar deal. The Clippers are rumored to be close to reaching a new deal with Brand, also. Baron/Brand/Kaman v. Kobe/Gasol/Bynum! WAR!!!! I'm not going to lie, I'm excited to see the Clippers next year. I think if they stay healthy, they can give the Lakers a fair run for the Pacific division title. I'm excited for the 4 games that we play them, now! I wonder if this will put any pressure on our organization to get some tough-minded players in here such as Posey.
Hm, looks like FSN2 will actually have some use this season I'm excited. I've always like Baron Davis, so I'm sure I'll actually watch some Clipper games this season. With that being said, no way do they beat us out. They have zero depth, and we're still the better team. Sucks for Fat Daddy O'Neal and the Suns. I will laugh if they finish third in the division, miss the playoffs, and not have their lottery pick because they traded it away in a move to dump Kurt Thomas's salary (who later beat them with the Spurs LMAO idiots)
Great pick up for the Clippers, Baron Davis is my second favorite player, after Kobe of course, but i might actually watch some Clippers games this season especially if they resign Elton Brand, Could the Lakers have signed Baron ?? Do they have that kind of money ?? I cant wait for the season already, i want it to start, and if the Suns finish third in the division, that would be the funniest thing ever, cuz that would basically end the Suns run with this core of players, I hope that happens, stupid Suns they deserve it hahahaha
It'll be fun to watch the Clippers again. Baron always had a swagger and flair to him, and I've always loved Elton Brand as a player, just always felt bad for him for not being able to play in too many postseason games.
The Clips don't have a bench yet (unless you count Mobley and Whinny Tim), but with Gordon and Thornton, the Clips will have scoring from all 5 positions.
It will still be interesting. Bench or not. Both of them will be playoff teams with up tempo offenses, and I'm sure the media will try to make this a huge deal. It will be fun to watch though, as I'm sure at least two of these will be on national TV.
The Clipps could be a very interesting team next year. It really depends on how well Baron meshes with his new teammates. The other obvious factor that's been mentioned is their bench, or should I say, lack thereof. Regardless, they could be a very good team next year and the Suns could be looking at a 3rd place finish in the Pacific after dominating it for the most of the last 4 seasons.
IMO the Clippes will make some noise... I even think they have a chance of beating us once or twice... But i think they'll come up just short, like the Hornets last year... But theyre definitely one of the teams to watch. Baron as the only all star in GS beat the Mavs, what more if he had Brand and Kaman.
at first when I heard about this last night I thought B-Diddy was foolish for not signing back to G. State, but I forgot about Thorton. "If" they stay healthy this will be a 50 win team easily........
If Brand can bounce back early in the season and have a healthy Kaman, this team will contend for the division title. They'll have a strong inside presence and Davis can get in the paint on anyone. Depth may be an issue but Health of all 3 will most likely be the bigger issue.
Although the Clippers received Baron Davis, and just vastly improved, they still can't contend with our Lakers. Though Kaman and Brand are good, our frontcourt is A LOT better, we have the best player in basketball, and we are a proven team. Also, it isn't certain that Elton Brand will be returning to the Clips this season. I, personally, don't think he is and I don't think the Clips can afford him.
actually, Im more wooried of the spurs if they add maggete just for the MLE we must offer him the same, maybe he wants to stay in LA
The Clips will definitely be fun to watch this season. I still like Baron, always loved Brand, and liked Eric Gordon and Al Thornton since they were in college. If healthy they'll be a formidable team with Baron/Mobley/Eric gordon/Brevin Knight in the backcourt. Brand, Kaman, Thornton, Tim Thomas, and Ross will be the SF/PF/C rotation. Sign a couple cheap servicable vets (maybe another defensive specialist so that Ross isn't all alone on defense) and they're looking good. Like everyone else is saying though health will be a big issue. I think Baron will be great next year to prove how good he is but after that? Baron on a long term contract running around LA with all his side projects doesn't bode well for the Clips IMO.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>are good, our frontcourt is A LOT better, we have the best player in basketball, and we are a proven</div> Thorton, Brand, Kaman > Gasol, Odom, Bynum. Odom, Gasol, or Bynum are not what I'd call "proven." Lamar doesn't show up everynight, Gasol is soft, and Bynum is coming off of major knee surgery and was only "beginning" to play good before he went out last year. The Clippers could very well be the best team in LaLa land next year.......
I agree, Brand+Kaman+Thorton is a better front court. The Lakers will most likely have the better record due to better chemistry and Kobe but I think the Clippers can make it tough on them.
I can't disagree more, but you guys are entitled to your opinions. I would take a frontcourt of Bynum, Pau, and LO over Kaman, Brand, and Thornton anyday of the week.
care to explain why? Thorton is good already and has a strong upside. Brand is an amazing PF, and Kaman is a solid center that should've been an allstar last year.............
