<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Instead of electing to play out the final year of his contract with the Kings next season at $7.4 million, Ron Artest told ESPN.com on Tuesday that he wishes now he had opted for unrestricted free agency. Artest also revealed via e-mail that he doesn't believe he'll be in Sacramento longterm, saying, "I don't see myself with [the] Kings beyond 2008-09. "I think I made the biggest mistake by staying in my contract and I have to live with it," Artest said. "I had some misleading information [in making the] decision on not opting out. Get on the phone with the Kings and dangle Odom's expiring and some picks out there!
Haha theres something wrong with him. You guys think Odom would be enough to get him? I'm just not sure if the Kings would want to send their player to a (former) rival.
I think for sure Odom would be enough to get Artest. He's cuckoo. Sacramento will loose him for nothing if they don't trade him. If they try to deal him they could get some picks or young talent out of it. Trading big name players doesn't net you what they are worth anymore, I think the league saw that when the Lakers netted Gasol and when Boston netted Allen and Garnett.
Odom for Artest would probably work if we weren't the Lakers That said, it's not happening. The Maloofs won't trade with us. They'll hurt their own team if it means getting a chance to watch the Lakers suffer The only way we get Artest is next offseason. If he really loves LA that much, then we'll get him next year I guess
Hey if I was a GM on a title contending team with the chance to sign him, I'd do it. Messed up in the noggin or not, the guy is a good scorer and a GREAT defender.
Thats what I'm thinking as well. Sending Artest to the Lakers and helping them win a championship, would kill the Maloofs emotionally, and like Brian says, they would rather see their team be the worst in the league rather then get Odom but in the process help the Lakers. You guys might end up waiting until next season is done, unless Mitch sends a couple of picks, cash and Odom for Artest and somehow convinces Petrie that he's winning with the trade. lol
i agree , i dont see the maloofs dealing with the Lakers, the last thing they would wanna do is help the Lakers win another championship, but i wouldnt mind the deal at all, Mitch should call them and ask, you never know what might happen after that
It seems to me like Artest wanted the 7 mil, didn't think he could get more this year in FA with a good team, so decided to take it and announce that he doesn't want to stay with the team. Typical
Based on the fact that the Kings are rebuilding, Odom's $14mil expiring contract would be a hell of an appealing item.
Salary wise, the Kings would have to throw in a Kenny Thomas in for the trade to work under CBA. Not into trading any more picks.
