Randy Moss has big links to kids <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Along with a sensational pair of hands, game-breaking speed, great instincts and awe-inspiring athleticism, we’ve learned a lot more about Randy Moss during the past year. For one, he has a special place in his heart for kids, especially those in his hometown of Rand, W. Va. On Friday and Saturday, he hosted the Links for Learning/Randy Moss Foundation Golf Tournament at Sleepy Hollow Golf Club in Hurricane, W. Va. The event was the fund-raising kickoff for a foundation that will provide learning centers for children in southern West Virginia. Moss was joined by his former Dupont High basketball teammate Jason Williams, now with the Miami Heat, and New York Jets [team stats] quarterback Chad Pennington [stats]. Moss spent part of Friday handing out shoes to youngsters at the King Center and Roosevelt Neighborhood Center in Charleston, W. Va. According to Tim DiPiero, who represents Moss, the wide receiver handed out 200 pairs of athletic shoes from Pony, which Moss has an endorsement deal with. He also spoke to the kids, urging them to hug their parents and grandparents. DiPiero relayed one anecdote about a 6-year-old boy who didn’t think it was cool to hug his dad. “He told Randy he thought hugging his dad was gay,” DiPiero said. “Then Randy pulled up a chair and sat the kid alongside him. He had a little talk with him. He assured him hugging your daddy is OK. Then he got him to pinkie-promise he’d hug his dad. Then he gave him his shoes. That was a cool moment.” Moss has paid to bus kids to amusement parks, to NBA games in Cleveland and to NFL games in Cincinnati when he played there. “It is very important for us as adults to lead a positive life and set an example for these kids,” Moss told the Charleston Gazette following the event. “I have goals, and one of my main goals is to better the kids.” The receiver also said he wasn’t dwelling on the Pats’ 17-14 loss to the New York Giants in the Super Bowl. “It’s just a game,” he told the Gazette. “It’s not the end of my life. That’s what I do for a living, so the good thing about that is I can gear back up for the following year. I’m excited about this year.”</div>
He's a good guy. He always has been. I had trouble with this reputation he had. I understand why he had it, but I saw too many good qualities in him. You would always see him giving his touchdown catches to kids that I'm pretty sure he invites.
Moss does great charity work during the offseason, he gets involved in all sorts of legal ventures as well.
Its good for him though and his career. Its also great that he sees the bigger picture in life and that he knows that kids are more important than the game itself.
Great. Now, if he can manage to stop injuring his mistresses and using traffic officials as hood ornaments, perhaps he could be the next NFL Man of the Year.
