No time for a source, I gotta run!

    Lakers interested in Brent Barry.
Don't mind his half-decent defense and good shooting.
If Posey demands all MLE, then try Barry for LLE or don't get him, Posey should be priority FA.

I think we only target Barry if Sasha walks.

If he wants the full $5.8 million MLE, the Lakers might be best to let him go.

Link? How many rumor threads are you going to make without a link? You really need to start including those if you're going to post threads like this.

As for Barry, why would we off him the full MLE? We could probably get him for the LLE or veterans minimum (or whatever the hell it was we used to sign Malone way back when). And I agree with Mamba, the only way we should bother is if we don't bring back Sasha. They're basically the same player, only one's a lot younger.

And I agree on the Sasha thing as well, if he wants the full MLE, let him walk. He pretty much shot himself in the foot with his horrific performance in the Finals. That and I want to see him produce again next year before we pay him that kind of money. There's these things called contract years. Players tend to play much better during those years, just to make bank. For a perfect example, feel free to take a look at Erick Dampier.

If James Posey is available to sign, let Sasha go. Posey may not have been a lights out shooter like Sasha seems to be, but the man is a very good shooter along with a great defender. He's a huge upgrade to Sasha IMO.

I would have to agree that Posey is a huge upgrade over Sasha. And you call Sasha a "lights out" shooter? Could have fooled me based on the Finals. Looked more like Posey was that guy. But yes, if we can get Posey for the MLE, go for it and let Sasha walk.

I'm with Moo and the others on this, I'm not interested in giving Sasha Full MLE money.

I wouldn't call him a lights out shooter either. I just didn't want to get the Laker fans mad. [IMG]

Somebody please explain to me what Brent Barry brings to the Lakers that they actually need. They don't need a vet, their star is a vet. They don't need outside shooting because with Bynum, Gasol, and Odom they need to be playing inside.

The only thing that Barry could possibly bring is leadership to young pgs. In Seattle Ridnour credited his development to Brent Barry's tutoring. But to me that is not worth the MLE.

He can play the point as a big and has a very good basketball IQ. However, he's not the greatest defender. Not terrible, just not the greatest.
For the LLE, I'd rather go after Big Shot Bob. HAHAHAHAHAHA

Vujacic probably is a better shooter than Posey, Posey was just given a lot more wide open looks by the Lakers than the Celts were giving Vujacic. But Posey is a calmer defender (Vujacic is frantic), and stronger for rebounding and absorbing contact.

I would LOVE Posey on the team, but under NO circumstance do I wanna give up Sasha. The kid is SO passionate, LOVES this team, works hard, says he's going to be in the gym all summer only taking A WEEK OFF from basketball. He may look like a girl, but I love his work ethic, and supposedly so does Kobe.

I agree with Lavalamp, I too think Sasha is the better shooter.

If I were the Lakers and I had a choice between the two and it would be a contract of the same size I would go with Posey. If it is a 5 year deal then because Vujacic is 24 and Posey is 31 I would take Vujacic. 2 or 3 year deal, Posey.

I wouldn't mind Barry on our squad. He can handle the ball, we all know he can shoot the rock, and knows what it takes to win titles. I'd rather him than Luke Walton coming off the bench.
