<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The guess is that Calderon will be an even more expensive option for the Raptors, with a contract likely worth $9-million a year over four or five seasons.

Tor said he had “introduced himself” to a few other teams in order to be in position to begin negotiations if the Raptors' offer wasn't up to Calderon's expectations, but it never came to that.</div>

Wow. I knew he was good, but that good? I think that might just be a little too much for a guy who has had one star caliber season under his belt.

I've heard from $8 mill (TJ's contract) to $9 mill. I think we still got to wait for the all the information to come out, but I'm guessing its somewhere in between there.

Hmmm, would it have been wiser to let him see what other teams offered...

Seemed like the same thing with Ford, didn`t let Ford come close to Free Agency and gave him a big long term contract.

If its 9mil/year on base terms its a good contract in my opinion. Calderon has played solid for a long period of time now, remember how he led team Spain and then had a big breakout season in Toronto? He'll have a great season next year, maybe not a All-Star worthy one but I have no problem at all with that contract.

If Jose guides Spain to Olympic Gold this summer, which is a possibility, BC signing him now might save us $10- to $15-million.

I'm still waiting for details on his contract. This source is reporting $8 mill a year, which if true, would be a helluva bargain for us.
