Even though he wants to stay a King, the Lakers are STILL going to look to deal for Artest. A Kenny Thomas+Artest for LO trade makes sense for both teams. Kenny Thomas is a poison contract on their rebuilding team, and the Lakers can use his size, post defense, and face up scoring. Artest's time is up in Sactown, and they can use LO's expiring contract. Lakers get toughness and defense, though they lose some versatility and rebounding. The Lakers ALSO don't have to worry about signing LO to a lucrative contract next year, and he would more than likely be in Sacramento for just one year and lost to, perhaps, Miami in FA, unless he blossoms and becomes a CONSISTENT threat.
For the last time, we're not getting Artest unless he accepts the MLE next offseason The Maloofs won't deal with us unless they know for certain they are ripping us off. End of story
Jesus Christ, I'm sick of this ass clown. Stop posting stupid ass threads. We're getting Kemp? Who gives a damn? Who the hell is Kemp! Stop reading LG and then coming over hear and posting "news".
Brian, that's just media shit. The Maloofs would have to be retarded to think a Sacramento-LA rivalry still exists. As businessmen, the Maloofs would actually be SMART to deal with us, and I think the Maloofs are VERY smart. I'm not saying we are DEFINITELY going to get Artest, but the reason won't be because "the Maloofs don't want to deal with the Lakers." If they are so anti-Lakers, they should just give up Artest b/c he loves the Lakers and their team.
Mamba, it was posted in the Reno-Gazette Journal, I don't read Lakers Ground. Ass clown. That pic suits you.

The Sacramento-LA RIVALRY STILL EXISTS. Do you not hear the Arco Arena when we play in Sacramento? Do you not see Kobe step up his game everytime we go there? The Maloofs hate us because we were the team who prevented them from winning a championship, year after year. They're not going to give us Artest unless we throw in Bynum or Kobe. Get over it
There may not be a rivalry in terms of competition, but between the two teams and the management of both teams, there is a rivalry. The Maloof's will not help us out, common sense answers that.
OK I'll give you that. Too many ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?, I got it. IDK how to list links. This one is from the SACRAMENTO BEE. I'm sure they would be making up a story about their own city's players. Stop the bitching cuz I don't go around starting stupidass threads. I look at in the papers first and then I post.
Um, newspapers make up random trades all the time. You should know considering you're a Laker fan. How many trades have the Lakers been "rumored" to make in the past? How many have actually happened?
That's irrelevant. The thread says the Lakers WILL BE LOOKING to trade for Artest. And it's not like its coming from LA Times, it's coming straight from Sacramento Bee. Sorry if I'm sounding hostile, but I'm not one to back down if someone basically calls me out like you guys have.
Artest: I made 'biggest mistake' He enters talks with the Kings hoping for a long-term deal – but leaves disappointed. By Sam Amick - samick@sacbee.com Last Updated 7:58 am PDT Wednesday, July 2, 2008 Story appeared in SPORTS section, Page C8 Print | E-Mail | Comments (35) | | When Ron Artest attended the National Basketball Players Association meetings in the Bahamas recently, some of his most respected colleagues implored him to opt out of his contract and join forces with their respective teams. When Artest attended Game 6 of the NBA Finals in Boston, he instantly sparked speculation that he could be the missing piece alongside Kobe Bryant for a Los Angeles Lakers team that fell short in its title run. But when the small forward and his agent, Mark Stevens, had a conference call with Kings basketball president Geoff Petrie on Tuesday morning, one day after Artest decided to play the final season of his contract with the Kings for $7.4 million, the hoops love Artest had been feeling was nowhere to be found. Click Here! Several sources close to the team said Artest entered with the hopes of discussing a lucrative, long-term extension – but was told the Kings were not prepared to take part in such talks. The message, quite clearly, is that he was not a part of their long-term plans. Artest was told to play out the season and be prepared to either be traded or revisit the issue next summer, when he would be an unrestricted free agent. Not long after, Artest sent an e-mail to ESPN.com's Marc Stein expressing regret over his decision to stay. "I think I made the biggest mistake by staying in my contract, and I have to live with it," Artest wrote. "I had some misleading information (in making the) decision on not opting out. … "I don't see myself with (the) Kings beyond 2008-09." Petrie acknowledged he had a "candid" conversation with Artest but said he "wasn't too inclined to (say) much further than that." Stevens said he had considered the talk with Petrie "good" and was surprised by Artest's public venting when reached Tuesday afternoon. "I'm not even near a TV, so I can't even respond to something I haven't seen," Stevens said. "Whatever (Artest's) reasons for feeling that way is – well, we'll just see." Just as the Kings did in February, they are expected to entertain trade offers for Artest and take advantage of his rising value. The Lakers are a near certain possibility for talks this summer, with a long list of contending teams needing a piece such as Artest behind them. Lakers Almost Certainly Will Ask for Artest
I already posted that article..if you browse the site, you'd see that... Just because the writer states the Lakers will pursue him doesn't mean shit.
According to the newspaper, Ron Artest was going to opt out. It didn't happen. I'm sure the Lakers will at least make one phone call to try to get Artest, but again, it's not happening
Lakers could sure use Ron Ron, but like people are saying the Kings hate the Lakers, so it probably won't happen..................
Does anybody know Kobe's thoughts on this? I guess that's 4 less times per year that he would have to be guarded by an elite defender, but does he want possible drama on his team?
Also, LO and Artest are boys as well. Grew up together in Queens. If we get Artest this season though, probably they won't be playing together unless Odom excepts MLE from us next year. (Yeah OK)
