Can't we aquire this guy?? I think he'll do well in the triangle. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Mickael Pietrus, Warriors: No one is sure why the Warriors didn't play Pietrus more. He's one of the most athletic defenders in the league and he's a solid 3-point shooter. Some team will pick him up and try to use him in a Bruce Bowen-type role.</div>

He has frustrated the hell out of Warriors fans for years because he's a great athlete, has a pretty good shot from the corner, and can be a terrific on ball defender but he just keeps making the same bonehead plays season after season. I don't think he's really learned anything about how to play since he's been inthe league.
Well said ryan, BUT I think Pietrus WOULD be good in the triangle. The Laker offense is much more structured than that of the Warriors, and a player like Pietrus, I think that is what he needs to get going. Still prefer Posey, but wouldn't mind the Lakers looking into this.
So Pietrus was too stupid to play in an unstructured offense So you put him in a structured offense and all of a sudden he will get it? He'd probably be too stupid to even learn the triangle offense. You don't make any sense. **** yo couch

Pietrus is like Forrest Gump- just give him some certain, specific orders and he'll do it. You start getting problems when you let him do whatever he wants to do. Hes just flat out way too dumb, his handle is TERRIBLE, his shot is streaky, he travels and steps on the baseline all the time, he fouls a ton. If you tell him; rebound your ass off, stand in the corner on offense and catch and shoot or pump fake and one dribble step to the rim hes ok. Dude blocks shots well and rebounds very well when focused. His offense is ok when hes not trying to do too much (he'll explode and tease you with an awesome game once a month though) and he does actually drop some nice dimes every now and then. Basically hes like an uncontrolled ball of basketball talent. I don't know if hes the most athletic player in basketball but I can't think of anyone who's more of an all around freak athlete. Dudes 6'6 with huge arms, pretty damn strong, quick as hell, end to end he runs like a deer, fantastic hops, hes just got the whole package. Could potentially defend any PG, SG, SF, and 240 lbs or under PF in the league if he weren't so dumb and foul prone. He'll have great games every now and then. Sometimes hes locking guys down like no other player can in the league, a lot of the time he just reaches like hell and jumps at everything and really isn't that hard to score on. Sometimes hes driving to the lane, drilling corner 3's all over, and dunking in guys faces, other times hes clanking every wide open 3 he gets.
Well...if Odom and Walton can learn the tri...can't anyone? Anyways, towards the actual topic...well, moreso. While Pietrus isn't what we'd call a "smart" basketball player, he still has talent. I wouldn't be opposed to bringing him in - he'd be a very solid guy to utilize in a 6th man role and to spell Kobe. However, his lack of a basketball IQ is quite frightening.
Being at almost every warriors home game for the past few seasons.. Pietrus has been pissing me off... Very low basketball IQ. Everytime he catches a pass behind the arc he either pump fakes which leads to a travel driving to the basket or he is already stepping out of bounds. The only plus side of Pietrus is hes athletic and is a good defender. Ive always thought of him as the same built and qualities of Kobe but 25% the IQ.
Moo, we already have two brain-dead players, and you want to add another one? lol. I'll pass. Pietris sounds like he's even stupider than Lamar and Luke
I'm not saying I want to add him. I'm saying he would be a decent acquisition if it weren't for his idiocy.
It's ironic the quote mentions a team would use him as "Bruce-Bowen" type, because I think the Spurs is the ideal team for him to play for. I want no part of Pietrus on the Lakers. He's a disaster on offense and overrated on defense.
Another player he should remind Laker fans of is Devean George. If we actually signed Pietrus he'd be the French equivalent and we could refer to him as Le Gump.
