<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>OAKLAND, CA – The Golden State Warriors announced today that both of the club's 2008 draft picks, Anthony Randolph and Richard Hendrix, are set to join returning players Brandan Wright, Marco Belinelli and C.J. Watson in headlining the team's summer league squad, which is slated to participate in both the 2008 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas and the 2008 Rocky Mountain Revue in Salt Lake City. Warriors' assistant coach Keith Smart will serve as the head coach for the Las Vegas contests, while shooting coach Sidney Moncrief will be head coach for the games in Utah.

Golden State's 2008 summer league schedule begins with five games at the 2008 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas from Friday, July 11, through Saturday, July 19, with two of the team's games slated for broadcast on NBA TV. Additionally, every game played during the Las Vegas Summer League will be webcast live on NBA.com – with each of Golden State's contests archived on www.warriors.com following the conclusion of the game. The 2008 NBA Summer League, which features squads representing 21 NBA teams, takes place from July 11 – 20, with games played at COX Pavilion and the Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of UNLV. This marks the fourth consecutive year that the Warriors have participated in the Las Vegas Summer League.

Following the team's stint in Vegas, Golden State will take part in the Rocky Mountain Revue in Salt Lake City. The Warriors are scheduled to play four games in the Rocky Mountain Revue between Monday, July 22, and Friday, July 25, with games set to take place at the Lifetime Activities Center on the Redwood Campus of Salt Lake Community College. This marks the first time that Golden State has participated in Utah's Summer League since 1997.

Mykal Riley is a nice 6'6, pretty athletic, very nice perimeter shooter and all around wing player that I like. Obviously Demarcus Nelson is the big name on this list but he measured out 6'1 w/o shoes and I don't think we need another combo guard. Also interesting that Perovic isn't on the squad.

Wow, former Net Tamar Slay. It'll be interesting to see how he fares.

I see another International year for him.

Hm, I don't expect alot of production/minutes aside from the guys with contracts already. Nelson is a guy that's actually local, though he spent 4 years in Duke. Basically because he's been out there so long, as a prospect and in college ball, there's not much more you can learn about the guy. Thus, I don't really expect a spot for him, unless we're desperate for minimum contract guys. I don't think he has any "pure" PG skills so I don't know if I'd even call him a combo guard, except for his size; but he's got pretty good SG skills and high overall basketball IQ and of course intangibles. Note, not fundamentals, because a lot of the things he does make him look weird (like CDR) and for a shooting guard he can't really shoot midrange. Like you said, he's measured at a measly a 6'1/6'2. At least he's aided by really, really long arms, allowing him to play good defense.

I don't know too much bout Riley, I saw clips of him at the Portsmouth Invitational. Had kind of a Reggie Miller-lite feel to him, skinny guy who kept shooting and rolling off screens. Never saw him in college, though.

Slay posted some decent numbers in the Italian league from what I pulled up (15+ pts, 5+ rebounds, 35% 3 pt shooting). I remember he was on the Bakersfield Jam for the 2nd half of last season, as well. Not a guy I'd really pick up, but maybe he'll surprise.

Only other guy that stands out to me is Reggie Larry. 6'6" athletic PF, he worked alot on his outside game in his last year to become a decent 3 pt shooter. Don't know if he's quick enough to make it in the NBA, plus the obvious size issue, and he's kind of stuck playing behind Wright, Hendrix and Randolph who'll grab the bulk of the minutes at the forward/center spots.

I liked Nelson in college, but I agree with you BJM, he might just be a little too short to play a legit position in the NBA. Too small for the 2 at the next level, and not close to being the floor general he would need to be to play the 1.

Wow, I am really excited to see this roster on the court. I want to see Marco and Wright (I suppose last year's draft picks) and Randolph and Hendrix (this year's draft picks). I am most excited about the rookies from the draft, in particular Randolph. I've heard some good things about Hendrix so I'd like to see what he's all about. It would be nice to see what Marco's progress is like too. But no Perovic? Is he not liked by the Warriors or is he busy with the national team?

That's really cool, perhaps on a personal level for me, to see Demarcus Nelson on the roster. I doubt he will make the team but my brother used to play basketball with him and work out together with his Dad and Demarcus back when they were in 8th grade/9th grade. I guess Nelson never really grew that much since those years. I believe he was given a scholarship to Duke as a sophomore in high school. He's a great athlete, but not a spectacularly skilled basketball player. He's got a lot of tenacity in his game and he works hard. But like it's been said, I doubt he'll make this team, or perhaps any NBA team.
