It seems like the Knicks have a lot of backup point guards and no clear starter. Now they're paying Duhon, another backup, starter money? That's a dumb move.

If they actually put Duhon in the starting job, they get a point who can run the offense, take care of the ball and play a team game. Add in a natural point forward like Gallinari and their offense isn't as screwed as you'd think. I like this move. It's only for 2 years too!

The contract ends in 2010, so this won't affect their pursuit for LeBron. I'm guessing they at least want a competent point gaurd on the roster.
Dammit, I wanted to see him go anywhere but to the Knicks. Well, and the Spurs...and the Celtics. Still, this is a stupid move. He couldn't go with the Magic? Who wouldn't wanna play with Dwight Howard?
I don't see how this is a bad move for the Knicks at all. Duhon plays defense, is a pass-first PG who doesn't demand shots, and has always had one of the best A/T ratios in the NBA. He's also probably starting and will be playing close to 30 minutes. He's definitely a starting caliber PG, but he hasn't been able to log too many minutes behind Gordon/Hinrich. The Knicks are overpaying him by $1.5M per season: big deal. He's only going to be signed for 2 years, so we can still be a major player in the 2010 FA market. Great move by Walsh.
I would refrain from calling it a great move, unless used in reference to other more recent New York deals. I would call it an average deal, the good thing is its a 2 year deal, but they overpaid a little. If Duhon ends up starting and playing 30 mpg, and does a good job, then it's a good deal.

Currently there is no player on the roster that does that. His contract means very little since it is expiring in two years - just in time for the 2010 summer. If he pans out I can see him putting up 9-11 points and about 7 assists, with good defense. I can definitely live with that.
