<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (NetsDaily)</div><div class='quotemain'>Al Iannazzone has stepped away from the barbecue long enough to give Nets fans a look at how Sean Williams is doing…and what are the prospects for the Nets to re-sign Nenad Krstic and acquire Andres Nocioni. Bottom line: Lawrence Frank says SWat has to improve his technique and work ethic; the Nets would like to keep Krstic, but on their terms; and the Bulls and Nets are revisiting some old territory re: Nocioni.</div> Higher Expectations for Sean - Al Iannazzone - In the 'Zzone Excuse me while I take a minute to read this, discuss it among yourselves
I like how Frank really seems behind Sean. He wants to see the kid improve, and if I'm reading correctly, it seems to me he's pushing for Sean to get better. This isn't something you'd see from a guy who doesn't like to develop young players... <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Marcus Slaughter, a 6-foot-9 forward from San Diego State who was undrafted in 2006, had some good moments, including a couple of blocks, a follow dunk and alley-oop slam. Julius Hodge played well also.</div> That's pretty sweet. I hope these guys get some burn, and maybe get a chance in training camp - especially if multiple players get traded away for, say, Andres Nocioni. Speaking of Noc:<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>You might have seen the Nets’ recent reported interest in Andres Nocioni. Let's say, they’ve revisited talks. My guess is if something gets done the Bulls may want a Stromile Swift involved since he’s in the last year of his deal. It may hurt the Nets’ flexibility, but it would improve them. My guess also is that the Nets aren’t the only team interested in Nocioni.</div> That's interesting. If Swift could be involved, you could come to a conclusion that KVH would be included as well, but who/what else? <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>It took the Nets a while to take down some of the picture of Jason Kidd that hung in the hallway on the way to their gym. But they’ve already removed something of Richard Jefferson’s. There was a Jefferson quote inside the training room that is still there. But Jefferson’s name, which used to be under it, is gone. The quote says: “You have to take it personal if people are scoring on you. You can’t accept mistakes and you have to be able to accept criticism. As an individual and a team, you have to take the challenge.” Too bad no one on last year’s Nets looked as if they had ever read that.</div> (Including Richard.)
I vote we start calling Sean Sh0n. Looks like he is viewed as a part of our teams future. Although probably off of the bench.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (GMJigga @ Jul 5 2008, 12:31 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>It also said that he was a lazy bastard and didn't start conditioning until...this practice :-(</div> Yeah, that's actually what I noticed the most too. Although the way I read it, it just seemed that he took a week off (only) before practice started, whereas others had been working out the whole month non-stop. 3 out of 4 weeks isn't bad... I guess?
he is improving, but frank won't admit that to the papers. He probably doesn't want swat to slow down his development. He's a soph, and frank is keeping him on a short leash. He wants him to keep on trying harder and harder. For those of you that think frank hates rookies here is where your wrong. All the vets are out doing their thing on their vacation or off season, meanwhile, the rookies and second year players are all working out year round with Frank who is an excellent teacher and talent evaluator. Maybe Frank doesn't play the rooks enough during the regular season, or enough for some of the posters on this board. But it is frank's job to win ball games. He sees the rooks 365 days a year, and if in his opinion they are not ready, hey they are simply not ready. That is the job of the head coach, and his responsibility. Swat is making strides, but frank wants him to continue. Maybe because he does have big plans for swat, and swat can't be fouling out in 9 minutes of play. He can't hit the rookie wall this year. Frank is simply doing his job. Thats what good coaches do! I think we will be seeing alot of swat this year, and maybe he will have more highlight clips than VC. oh yeah, go nets!!!!
Sean Williams can be as good as he wants to be. He wants to be a starter? He can be. He wants to be an All-Star? He can do that too. It's all up to him.
