<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>"If this off-season has proved anything to the Mavericks, it's that there is never a shortage of players who can fill out a roster. On Monday, they had seven players under contract. Today, they have 11, with more on the way. The latest, apparently, is J.J. Barea. Word out of Puerto Rico is that he will sign a three-year contract Wednesday, when the moratorium on trades and signings is lifted. The deal is worth less than $5 million, according to reports out of Barea's homeland. NBA sources indicated the deal is not done but is close."</div> Source
It's pretty unusual to see a long term deal cost that little of an amount. I don't know too much about this kid other than...he's short.
I think the Magic brought him into training camp a couple years ago but he didn't make the team. It seems like Dallas is just desperate to sign cheap players that will fill out their roster.
This is a waste IMO. He really doesnt have any exceptional talents. If you're short, you need something special.
