The game has been stopped because of rain, but damn, it's been incredible so far. Nadal led the sets 2-0 and had 2 championship points, but Federer won the next 2 sets on tiebreakers and now it's 2-2, 2-2, 40-40. I hoping for the rain to stop soon, because if it doesn't we'll have to wait 'till tomorrow.
I've watched bits and pieces of this. Not really a tennis fan, but it's been fairly entertaining to watch.
Terrific stuff. I like any sporting event where the competitors are emotionally invested in the result, and there was as much on the line in this match as any tennis match can possibly have.
Great, great match. I never even knew about that "no-tiebreaker in the 5th set" rule until today, but I'm glad it existed because it provided some crazy tension. I was sort of rooting for Federer to pull the amazing comeback but in these sort of situations you just have to sit back and appreciate what you're watching. Nadal earned that win and I'm happy for him.
Nadal has been closing ground for a while, and hes now the worlds best player....hes in his prime, Federer is getting older....sucks to be over the hill and still be 26, but thats the reality of tennis....
I wouldn't go that far yet. I want to see what Nadal does in the US Open. Federer has dominated every tournament out there, so if we're crowning a new champ he should be able to do the same. Nadal's certainly on his way, though.
I won't lie, I was rooting for Federer to complete the comeback, even though I don't like his attitude....Nadal was just way more emotional, or at least that's the way it seemed. It's hard not to root for the underdog when watching from a neutral standpoint. Nadal was just incredible, though, he deserves the win.

His box was really animated though. But really, I hate to see great comebacks spoiled right at the end. The match was rightfully Federer's.

I've never intentionally watched tennis until yesterday and that was a great way to start. I can't say that it got me deeply into the sport, but anytime you have that kind of intensity involved, I'll be interested. Even if its competitve darts.

I was worried about Nadal's knee, but thankfully he got over it and stepped up in the 9-7 set.
The match wasn't rightfully anybody's. Nadal earned his win, so its his. I'm hoping I can see one of these two (or Djokovic) play at the Rogers Cup in a few weeks.
Nadal has been close to breaking though on grass for a while and he finally did....on clay its not close....Nadal is the new #1, and I think hes poised to go on a 5 year run that will rival the games all time greats....I believe we are entering his time....Federer isnt done, but that was his surface and his tournament and was beaten....thats a huge boost for Nadal, who continues to get better....I am amazed at the level these two have taken the game though....has mens tennis now elevated above the womans game in interest?
