    Out for Season - Suspension

The battle for the spot opposite of Newman is up for grabs. Henry has the upper leg with his size, experience, and and familiarity with Dallas' scheme. Henry, when healthy, has been an excellent #2 CB. He is a physical CB who has very good play recognition skills, allowing him to be a proficient ball hawk. He lacks the top end recovery speed, so he plays off the WRs. He also has had a hard time staying healthy since his arrival in Dallas.

Adam Jones enters Dallas looking to prove himself to be a capable player. He has a year's rust to shake off, but before the suspension, was a rising star in Tennessee. He has very good athleticism and speed (moreso than Henry). He doesn't have great size, but was an excellent cover corner the year prior to his suspension. He also doubles as a threat in the return game. His biggest advantage over Henry is his athleticism and youth.

Who do you think wins the battle and starts opposite Newman in the regular season opening game?

My prediction is Henry. Henry remains a very valuable asset to the team. When healthy, he has been very good. The trouble has been his ability to stay healthy. I think Jones will need some time to readjust to NFL game speed. He will undoubtedly have some rust, the question is, how much? I think you'll see Adam Jones start on the outside with Henry, and Newman line up in the slot when we go nickel. But Henry and Newman will be our starting corners come the regular season start.

I'm guessing the job will belong to Henry until Jones proves that he is good enough to take his spot. Henry had a very good season last year, there would be no reason to give his spot to someone who didn't play last year.

Another thought is.... Henry only has 1 year left on his deal in Dallas and with Newman just being re-signed, Adam Jones, the 1st round selection of Mike Jenkins, another rookie in Orlando Scandrick, and last year's 7th rounder Alan Ball......Henry could be on his way out of Dallas.

Maybe Dallas wants to get Adam Jones into the lineup sooner rather than later.

it'll depend on how rusty Jones is and how he does in pre-season games IMO. If he's missing assignments and doesn't have the defensive scheme down tight, Henry gets the nod for September and possibly part or all of October. I expect Jones to be starting by the beginning of November at the latest.

I think if Henry wins the battle outright, we'll see Henry start all year, barring injury.

And it doesn't really matter a whole lot, because the nickel CB plays a lot nowadays anyway....

soooooooooo true and with the way so many TE's are so athletic, you need a 3rd CB to cover opposing TE's too as too many LB's cannot cover the top TE's anymore.
