http://sportstwo.com/MLB/Story/MLB/2581079 Report: Indians trade Sabathia to Brewers Sunday, July 6, 2008 08:02 PM MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- The Milwaukee Brewers just made themselves legitimate contenders in the National League Central. According to published reports, the Cleveland Indians on Sunday traded reigning American League Cy Young Award winner C.C. Sabathia to the Brewers for a package that includes top prospect Matt LaPorta. Sabathia could be on the mound for Milwaukee as soon as Tuesday against the Colorado Rockies, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported. The deal is contingent upon paperwork being finalized and medical reports being exchanged. The left-handed Sabathia will become a free agent at the end of the season and already had turned down a lucrative contract extension to stay in Cleveland. it is believed he will test the market at the end of the season, meaning he may just be a three-month rental for the Brewers. Sabathia is 6-8 with a 3.83 ERA this season, but is 6-5 with a 2.16 mark since April 22. As the AL's top pitcher in 2007, the hefty went 19-7 with a 3.21 ERA while pitching a league-high 241 innings. Fifteen days from his 28th birthday, Sabathia will team with current ace Ben Sheets to give the Brewers perhaps the best 1-2 punch of any team in the National League, rivaling Arizona's duo of Brandon Webb and Dan Haren. Sabathia could be the last piece to the puzzle for Milwaukee (49-39), which has won five of its last six games and leads the wild card race while sitting 3.5 games behind the Chicago Cubs (53-36) in the Central.
They were talking about this trade on the Cubs game today (TNT) and then the trade goes down. Cubs beat the Cards 2 of 3 in St. Louis. They're 10-12 without Soriano and he's due back soon.

You seem to be implying that it's one and done for the Brewers but that's not the case. This team is deep for years too come. Manny Para is 9-2 and Gallardo is even better than Para and he'll be back. Next year they'll take over as the 1-2 punch when Sheets and Sabathia leave. I'm not saying they'll be great next year but they'll be in the thick of things again. Then again I don't care about next year right now. Baseball finally is fun and this 3-way race with the Cubs, Brewers, and Cards is going to be a lot of fun.

Hes from the bay area and loves it there, I think he wants to move closer to home (Vallejo, where he lives all off-season). G's don't need him and the A's don't have the money but I think hes gonna move somewhere further west unless he gets an offer he can't refuse from the Yankees or someone. Semi-OT but hes got season tickets to Warriors games, first row center court. Hes at most of the home games and pretty much all of the "big games". One time I had seats in row 12 on the opposite side of the floor but as I exited through the bottom of the arena, as I walk out in the STH parking lot with the rest of the lower bowl crowd this door opens next to me and its CC Sabathia and like 3-4 other dudes literally like 6 feet away from me. Dude was HUGE, he could definitely play some PF in the NBA lol. He and his boys hopped into a brand new Rolls Royce Phantom sitting on rims that went practically up to my hip. Also random note but he and his family went to a Warriors pre-season game against I think Orlando during MLB spring training, thought it was cool because they guy is a legit big time W's fan.
Hey, I can't complain. My Twins didn't face CC in their recent series (sweep baby!), and now they trade him to an NL team after interleague play. Thanks Indians!!
