Another big score for Moss Patriots star Randy Moss has a new route to run as part owner of Randy Moss Motorsports. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Accustomed to making long hauls on the football field, Randy Moss acknowledged he was operating far afield from his chosen area of expertise when it came to owning a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series team. But the Patriots wide receiver, despite being new to the sport, said he was prepared to make a long-haul commitment after announcing yesterday at Daytona International Speedway he had purchased a 50 percent stake in David Dollar's Craftsman Truck Series team, Morgan-Dollar Motorsports. Although terms were not disclosed, the team will be renamed Randy Moss Motorsports and will field a yet-to-be-sponsored No. 81 Chevrolet Silverado for driver Willie Allen in the team's debut July 19 at Sparta, Ky. "I'm ready to take this all the way," said Moss, who seized upon an opportunity presented to him by his business partner, Tim Martin, following the Patriots' run to the Super Bowl. "My door's open to any sponsor willing to team up with Randy Moss Motorsports, but at the same time I'm ready to keep this thing going myself," Moss added. "Either way, we're going to be happy and satisfied with what we're trying to develop." Moss's involvement in NASCAR, a predominantly white sport striving to promote diversity, follows that of another high-profile African-American athlete, former NBA star Brad Daugherty, who recently announced plans to start up a Truck Series team next year. Daugherty is now an analyst for ESPN. "I am an African-American and I am a businessman," Moss said. "As far as when it comes to race, I don't really see race as a factor. A lot of people do, but I don't. I'm a black man and David's a white man, let's be blunt about it. He doesn't see my color and I don't see his, either." Morgan-Dollar Motorsports has posted 13 victories in the Truck Series, 11 with Dennis Setzer and one each with Bobby Labonte and Clint Bowyer. Setzer finished second in the championship standings for three straight years (2003-05) as Dollar's full-time driver. "He's been so close to being first, and I know what that feels like," Moss said of his new racing partner. "I definitely had a chance to experience that this year with a loss in the Super Bowl, so I understand where he's coming from and his frustration." Dollar, who has fielded two trucks this season, said he explored partnering with other suitors, but "I was so taken with Randy and his passion for winning and his understanding, and most important, his dedication to what it takes to be successful and that's what brought it all together for me." But in racing it takes sponsorship to make the wheels go 'round - and go fast. J.D. Gibbs, president of Joe Gibbs Racing, joked that he had but one piece of advice for Moss: "Hope you got a lot of cash, my friend, because you go through it fast." Said Sprint Cup driver Tony Stewart, "He knows how to be successful and obviously has a passion and desire to be competitive. A guy's not going to take an undertaking like this unless he's going to give it 100 percent." NASCAR has had other NFL players, such as Dan Marino, Troy Aikman, and Roger Staubach, dabble in team ownership, only to fail. Moss is aware he could wind up suffering the same fate. "I know there's a chance of that happening, don't get me wrong, but if it happens, I guess there's another alternative," Moss said. "Like I said, I don't see us really going downhill. The reason I teamed up with David is because I saw something in his team that I think I can put whatever I may have, as far as my profession, to help make this thing work. I'm not really saying that I'm 100 percent sure that it's going to work, but at the same time you got to think positive." Martin Truex Jr., vying to get into NASCAR's Chase for the Championship, started the weekend with a significant setback. Truex's Chevrolet failed inspection before practice yesterday for the Coke Zero 400, prompting NASCAR officials to impound the car, sending Truex's crew scrambling to get the backup ready. Truex's car failed to fit NASCAR's roof template.</div>
Cool guy and player lol. Tim, do you root for the Patriots since he plays here now? (of course Minny being your #1 team)
Cool guy and player? Are we still talking about Randy Moss? I guess he is cool as long as your not a woman.

Moss wasn't around long enough to be a guy that I would follow him everywhere I go, similar to a Johan Santana. I always root for the individual player, but not really the team. Especially not the Pats, I really am not a fan of them. Sorry CelticKing....
