Klinsmann: Bring On The Champions League

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>New Bayern Munich manager Jurgen Klinsmann has declared that his club are ready top compete on all fronts next season, and says that the Champions League title tops the German champions’ priorities.

Bayern have been without the Champions League title since 2001, when Ottmar Hitzfeld led the side to triumph over Valencia.

Klinsmann hopes to reverse the side’s continental failings by introducing a swathe of revolutionary new techniques at the training ground, where he has now completed two days work.

He was addressing his first press conference as Bayern manager, and two television stations carried the event live.

He said: "Expectations are always the highest at Bayern. We want to win both German titles, the Bundesliga and the German Cup. And we want to be in the Champions League all the way to the end."

"I'm full of joy and pride to be able to work here and to move some things. At the same time I know I'll have to live with the fact that there might be a few people not happy about the changes.

The manager announced plans to keep his players at the training club from 9.30 in the morning until 5.30 in the evening, with the aim of creating a modern holistic atmosphere. Klinsmann acknowledged a new, eager generation of footballers at his disposal, and predicted his techniques will be met favourably.

He continued: "I'm not worried. I think the players are looking forward to it. I think this is a young generation waiting to be inspired, stimulated and motivated. We'll see after a few months how it's going. I think it'll release a lot of new energies.

"My philosophy is to make every player better every day. I'd like to help players get to the next level.”

The ex-Germany manager spoke about his extensive travel, where he has picked up ideas on coaching. The 43-year-old had previously been based in Los Angeles, where he saw the workings of the city’s Lakers basketball team up close. He also spent time at the Phoenix Suns in Arizona.

He said: "I did a lot of travelling. And obviously I spent a lot of effort to learn more about soccer. It's my belief that everyone can learn something from someone else. You just have to open yourself up to it."

Klinsmann extolled the virtue of hard-work and a willingness to learn, and went on to state that his Bayern side will play an energised and fresh game, with little regard to the intentions of the opposition. This is a style to which that fans of the Nationalmannschaft became accustomed during Klinsmann’s two year stint at the helm.

He continued: "Matches are decided in the head. It's important to keep learning, to stay hungry to learn more.

“We'll have a system where we'll be assertive, set the pace of the match and try to dominate. It's a secondary issue how the opponent plays us. It doesn't matter who we're playing against in the Champions League. Bring 'em on."</div>

Well he seems confident but to be perfectly honest not even united are that confident when comming to the champions league. He needs to aim lower so he does not disapoint himself.

You're right there barmy. But I think he needs to be like that with the players so that they think highly of him and listen to him for the remainder of the season.

Could be, but the players themselves know that they have a great chance of accomplishing that.
