this guy should get props for scoring rather than being bashed as an ballhog and a horrible passer. the summer leagues is a preety big upgrade over college and just look at how beasly and westbrook did against the Nets. Summer League is not as easy as I first though it was and Carroll has had 2 really good games. Even though hes an older rookie with limited upside he can be a key role player which every team needs. Nets need scorers I'm sorry to tell you. Stop denying it. Hodge, Conroy, Ager have shown me absolutely 0 scoring ability. All of you are praising Conroy but did any of you notice he went 1-8 from the line agaisnt Miami. Theres no fans or disatractions or cowbells or towell waving. That's sad.

The Nets have him earmarked as a PG (probably not, but want to see if he has the versitility in him) 3. Nets fans have a high standard when it comes to PG's 4. I don't know if any other summer leaguer is seriously being considered at this time for a PG position, Carrol probably the most by far. 5. We already have a shoot first PG so naturally it makes no sense to replace same with same. anyway, I think the position we're hiring for is a hustle sg who can be a third string point. (what we wanted House to be) I sort of feel that CDR is more of a natural fit in this slot, but he'll be either an sf or sg starter or primary backup. So far I can see Carrol as an instant offense guy who can score in bunches. the problem with this type of player is that they seem to be offensive band-aids that are in the long term a problem because once you take them out the bleeding starts again. Carrol is either going to be the type of player who works well to stabilize the scoring load or creates a production deficet in others that deflates other players. maybe he's that guy you throw in when all hope is lost and he wills you back from a 20 points down? but I think he's a guy you HAVE to keep in for the rest of the game. anyway I'm basing that assumption on an old model of the Nets where we had Collins and Kidd (not big time scorers) Maybe Carrol is the right fit right now, but I'm still on the fence. Either way he's cheap and talented so we should sign him.

If Carroll does make the team barring injury hes not going to see the court the same way Ager never saw the court. But by midseason if there is an injury or let's say we do trade Carter he can eventually be a solid role player. I think hes more than just a chucker though. I think hes a smart shooter who will know his role. Hes only chucking them now because he wants to make the team and hes still making a good amount of them. I think he can be a role player the same way Kapono, Korver and Daniel Gibson are. Oblivously we'll be happy to get anything out of him this year but if hes a hard worker and continues to improve he may be a great find down the road.

My scan on him is that he's used to being the best player on his team, and my concern is if he can adjust to being merely a role player, or is this a lightning in a bottle thing? In other words, is he mentally tough enough to maintain the efficiency and effectiveness of his game on this team, but please bear in mind that my apprehension is as much for Franks handling of him as his own mindset. I could see a comparison to Daniel Gibson.

We need someone who is a pure shooter but can also be an aggressive scorer and he fits the bill. Maybe it's because I followed the WAC pretty closely for the past few years, but I really have never seen anyone with as sweet a stroke from 3 as him. He is used to having 2-3 guys draped all over him all game long so while some people see his shots as "chucking", you have to realize that shooting the runners in the lane is part of his game. He rarely finishes at the rim because he has learned he can pull up early with one handers and not get blocked. I would love to see what would happen with someone like Vince on the court where he can drive and command the attention of the defense and kick out open looks for someone like Jaycee. He shot 50% from 3 with guys in his face as a senior, his eyes would be as big as saucers with even a few open feet. Also being a huge Arizona fan, I know that Jaycee shot 49.7% from 3, only .3% shy from becoming the second player in NCAA history to shoot over 50% FG, over 50% 3PT, and over 90% FT......the first and only player to do it? Salim Stoudamire. Check out the cumulative stats so far: Nets accumulated stats Lopez's and Carroll's 48 min. average numbers are insane! Even if they could accomplish near half that against NBA starters?
lol those numbers are hilarious! Check out Yuta Tabuse's numbers over 48: 27 pts 14 rebounds 14 assists per game (~5 minutes played, total )
