Beasley, the second overall pick in last month's NBA draft, scored 28 points in 23 minutes Monday as the Miami Heat trounced Rose and the Chicago Bulls, 94-70, in the Orlando Pro Summer League Rose, the top pick in the draft, had 10 points in the loss. Beasley, who played his one season of college basketball at Kansas State, was in action despite a fractured sternum suffered in his first practice last week. The game also marked the debuts of Vinny Del Negro as Bulls coach and Erik Spoelstra as coach of the Heat.
Nichols did pretty well Better than most of the other guys on the team. Oh yeah, and Gray: Typical Tim Duncan-like performance!
Do you folks remember that summer league game when Amare Stoudomire came out and domolished our Twin Towers and front line of the future? That was a bad sign that grew to fruition. I got the same feeling listening to the game today.

I think the Bulls better hurry up and figure out how to maximize Rose's potential and growth or we will be regretting this #1 pick opportunity to no end. The bottom line is still in our favor... would you rather have Amare or Chris Paul?

I'm not worried about him till I see more. Beyond that: 1. Beasley would have been a big help for us. Most guys in the summer league do it at the expense of a zillion shots and turnovers and fouls. Our bigs could do absolutely nothing to stop him. Ouch. 2. Along those lines, that was our theoretical starting frontcourt out there. If that isn't cause for discouragement I don't know what is. I'm getting closer to thinking Thomas has gotta go (I wasn't far from that to start with). 3. This was as good a reason as any yet to bring back Gordon and Deng. A PG can make players better, he no one should expect chicken salad out of chicken shit.
I still haven't given up on Tyrus. He was incredibly raw when he came into the league. I was thinking 4-5 years to develop. We are heading into year 3. We can afford to be patient (especially since it will take 3 or so years for Rose to 'get it.') Tyrus should be coming into his own at that time too. We'll have a young Deng (26), Gordon (28) entering his prime... I hate this idea of drafting raw players (Curry, Chandler).....and then giving up on them early. "Bigs" aren't known for developing fast. We took Tyrus; we have to remain committed to developing him. And Skiles has hindered him.
I'm not a fan of giving up on a guy, but at the same time, I don't know that we can afford to be patient. How happy and engaged is Tyrus going to be if he's coming off the bench again. Which he probably will will be? I think it's pretty easy to talk a good game in the summer, but unless he really steps it up it's gonna be a repeat of last year.

Do something with a rotation like this: 96 minutes between the 4 and 5. Gooden(32)/Noah(30)/Thomas(28)/Filler (6) Filler can refer to Nocioni (barring trade), Gray, etc. And we can afford to be patient because we aren't ready to compete yet. Not without Rose being ready...

"If you can't score against David Paggett ..." TT's stats were pretty awesome for 18 mins of play. Excepting fouls. I'd like to see more mid-range stuff than the long jumpers but...

But yeah, Noah's non-dominance over him is pretty scary. Though, admittedly, it is just one summer league game.
