I get that Summer League can be boring, and Its fine they read e-mail rapid fire. And Im glad they dont pretend to be riveted, but at least, they can let us know who has the ball. They treat it like a chore. A lot of us were busting our balls to find a way to see the game, so clearly somebody cares. I can only imagine how much actual broadcasting they do when we play the Pacers or OKC. I wouldnt be shocked if they balance their checkbooks while those games are going on. Again, Im all about having fun and playing around. I wish more announcing teams stopped acting like robots, and stopped using words no one uses in daily conversation, its really disconcerting. But these guys need to find a way to have fun, but still let the audience know about rookies or any other interesting players and whats going on.
Once again, you are talking into a well. I tried everything. They don't care. They aren't changing. Just take this energy and figure out a way to get Dumpy on the air. I think they would go for that if we bombard them with requests.
Yea, but what happens if Dumpy gets on and hes worse? Starts stuttering like Eli Manning or something. Ill put in a good word for him though

First, they aren't professional broadcasters. They are just Magic employees who were asked to provide commentary to the games. I will guess that they were chosen because they are "talky" and that they were asked to be "entertaining." But on top of that, it must be very hard to do well. Normally, announcers will study the opponent in advance, learn the uniform numbers, team tendencies, etc.--but how could you do that for EIGHT teams? especially when three quarters of the players you've never heard of? You just can't expect something like that. I'd also prefer to hear some guidance--at least who has the ball--but in this context, when you stop to think about it, it is a lot to expect from a couple of non-professionals, who don't have the opportunity to study the teams in advance, and whose role is just to ensure that viewers don't encounter silence.
You won't brain them, you wont talk instead of them. Bah. Could you at least "trip" over their audio cables?
I disagree. Even the dumbest person on this board can look at a roster, determine who has the ball and say that name into a mic. It's 10 guys at a time. Not hard.

Not hard.</div> This is a little off-topic, but a long time ago, I was once (this is hard to say) watching a yankee game on PIX. Rizzuto was doing his gardening shtick, and then suddenly they lost the feed. We could still hear Rizzuto and his sidekick, but couldn't see any picture. So Rizzuto said something like, "I guess I have to do this for real; it's been a long time since I called radio," and he started giving play-by-play. Truthfully, he was pretty good. Then the picture came back on, and he jumped back into his gardening. Which Rizzuto did the fans prefer?

Just as soon as the ball changes hands, let us know whos got it Roberts..................................Williams....................Lopez...... ......................Anderson...........Williams -If I turn the sound off then I got 0 chance of knowing whos doing what. B/C they seem to tell us every once and then. I really dont mind the wacky email off topic rapid fire big finish style. Just let us know about the 4 or 5 guys that are interesting....... wouldnt be hard to know who. Dumpy could tell hem, even though it seems like hes getting camera shy all of the sudden

Even though they aren't professionals... they should at least try to call the game and have fun at the same time. Also if they work for the magics then that means that they should even be more informed than the regular fan! and should try to do at least some research... Like you said "It is only 8 teams" Not 30 . Also people that are hardcore fans are watching these games, not your average fan. Most people want to know how their young players are doing and noone wants to hear how boring the game is.. i mean come on be serious. And then they wonder why they dont have any sponsors!! They are morons!
I doubt they're even getting paid to do it. Some coverage via the blogocube: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont...g?urn=nba,92605 http://awfulannouncing.blogspot.com/2008/0...uncers-are.html http://www.wearethepostmen.com/2008/07/07/...now-about-them/
