I'm guessing that's why we're after........................................................Brent Barry!!! EDIT real talk though, the only way the rockets get a significant player is if they give up Yao or Tracy.................which I think they should really consider doing....

T-Mac's contract comes off the books before 2010 free agency. Give Mac, Yao, Scola, Battier and Rafer a chance in the playoffs.
I would say let his contract expire, but by then no one will want to play in Houston with an older/more injured Yao Ming......if ur waiting til 2010 for Tmac to come off the books then you might as well say "I give up on Yao and am looking towards the future"................I'm thinking win now, and how we win now is by trading one of those two (preferably tmac...)
I wonder how some of the Rockets players are feeling, with the GM essentially saying that they will likely be traded for a "significant player" during the season. Bobby Jackson, with that expiring contract, is as good as dealt.

If they don't pay the bills, we will have a lot of morey to bring in guys who can. Just thinking about the offers we would get for T-Mac and Yao makes me want to throw up.
The Rockets are in a tough spot. No one is going to give much for T-Mac unless he can prove he can stay healthy for a full season but if he does why would you trade him? That Rudy Gay trade is really coming back to haunt the FO.
Does anyone think that trading tmac for Rip Hamilton/Billups and Prince would improve them at all? I think theres a chance it could if Yao stays healthy and is a dominant force down low.
They gotta trade T-Mac and/or Yao to get multiple good young players back. If they can't do that, they gotta just keep the core of the team intact, add players who will make some sort of an impact, and go for another title run. After all, ya gotta consider...this was Adelman's first year.

It seems like a more well-rounded and reliable team.
I don't think the Rockets need to add a 'significant' player. Let's not forget the winning streak last season without Yao, and the experience Scola & Landry had last season in Yao's absence will payoff this year with Yao back. The key for the Rockets is going to be Yao/TMac staying healthy. I think the Rockets still need to add backcourt depth, but I don't think they need to make any drastic changes. Brent Barry will help a little, but the Rockets will need a speed guard to deal with the Chris Pauls and Tony Parkers in the Western Conference.

Unfortunately the other pieces haven't fallen into place (health, coaching, etc.). I'd still like to see what this team could do healthy, over an entire season, but then again I've been saying for a few seasons now.
