Lol peace out Ronny, your services are worth about half of that.

Ah beat me to it. I'd rather resign Mbenga.

Couldn't do much on the court but at least he entertained?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Lakers forward-center Ronny Turiaf agreed to a four-year, $17 million offer from the Golden State Warriors, according to two league sources.

    Golden State is Crazy

What the **** kind of weed are they smoking up there in Northern Cal? 4 years for $17 million !?! They've lost it. If Mitch even thinks about matching that, I'll be pissed.

That's ridiculous for Turiaf. I knew Otis Smith worked for the Warriors a few years back but I had no idea he was still calling the shots.

He's not THAT overpaid, is he? How much would he be worth, like 2 million a year?

    He's not that over-paid, I just don't think he's worth more than $3 million/year.

Actually though, Golden State might be the ideal situation for Ronny. We could all be eating crow after next year, he might work out for you guys.

Lakers would be nuts to match the offer. His services are worth half of what he's getting paid. If Mitch matches this....I'll go nuts.

Since Turiaf is more than likely gone, the Lakers will probably pursue Kurt Thomas.

I LOVED the energy and hustle Turiaf brought to our team. He's a VERY important type of player on any team.
His heart and compassion will be missed, but his mediocre basketball skills, as I have said before, made me want to trade him during the season.

    BYE BYE RONNY!

    Not a big deal...

I'll miss the dude, but honestly, basketball wise, there are better options out there. I wish Ronny the best of luck with the Warriors.

you guys are acting like they're paying him 17 mil over 2 years, lol.............4 mil is nice for a servicable big man......lakers might actually miss his energy and toughness off the bench....Mbenga is flat out pathetic.........Lakers got to look to get another big now...

Yeah I don't really get it, maybe its because I mostly see him against the Dubs and he always kills us but 4 mils for a solid backup isn't a terrible contract. Mbenga was on the W's and was pretty damn bad.

That being said I think it would be dumb for the L's to match here. They already have Bynum, Gasol, and Odom (plus Mbenga who I guess everyone thinks is serviceable). They're in the lux tax so Turiaf would essentially cost them 8 mil/year and they're a legit contender so they can get a good, servicable veteran with the same production or better at a cheap price (Kurt Thomas, Theo Ratliff, Brian Skinner, Francisco Elson, etc.). Hes worth 4 mil to the W's who lack depth and productive bigs, I don't think hes worth that to the Lakers.

I think a lot of us just aren't really impressed with his production. His game hasn't really improved since he came into the league. I like the guy, but honestly speaking, his effectiveness on court was pretty much nothing since the allstar break. I'm sure most Laker fans would agree with me. He is a good teammate, he provides good energy, and he can block shots here and there, but ultimately, he just isn't that good. Do I think the Lakers should just let him walk? No. Do I want us to match the offer? I guess, but if he does walk he's not really going to hurt us.

I posted a run down about Ronny in the Warriors forum btw

Also, about Mbenga, everytime he actually gets minutes, he is pretty impressive. He actually has a pretty decent offensive game. Phil just doesn't play him for whatever reason.

I don't think it's a bad deal for the Lakers to match because Turiaf can play either power position and his positive energy will be hard to replace. I know Ronny can be frustrating at times by getting into early foul trouble or making bad decisions on offense, but at least you know you're going to get 110% effort everytime he checks in.

PJax never really found a role for him and I think Turiaf has a chance to develop more in Golden State. Like Dream said, paying $4M a year for a servicable big man is reasonable.

I hope this doesn't open the door for the Lakers to entertain bringing Kwame back to replace Turiaf on the roster.

Hopefully the Lakers sign Kwame to another 27 mill 3 year contract [IMG]
