However, Knicks president Donnie Walsh said Tuesday that it is premature to speculate on the future of Marbury or any other current Knicks, for that matter. "Whatever we do in free agency has no bearing on the rest of our roster," Walsh said. "We're still in the process of evaluating the entire team." NBA rules prohibit Walsh from talking about Duhon until the former Bulls point guard signs the contract that will pay him $12 million over two seasons. Marbury is owed $21 million on the final year of his contract, and assuming the Knicks cannot make a trade, the club is expected to release him. Walsh declined to get into specifics about Marbury except to repeat that no decision on any Knicks player has been made. "And I keep reading about a Walsh confidant," Walsh joked. "I don't have anyone here in New York who is my confidant. My wife isn't here. I'm by myself." The Daily News reported last month that the Knicks, according to league sources, would release Marbury. He still could be one of the veterans to attend voluntary workouts this weekend in Las Vegas, where the Knicks' summer-league team, featuring first-round pick Danilo Gallinari, is training. Gallinari's spot on the roster became official yesterday, when he signed a contract, which, according to the rookie scale, will be worth around $2.6 millions annually for three years.</div> NY Daily News
