<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Following through on his vow to bolster his team's depth, Miami Heat President Pat Riley moved closer Tuesday to signing James Jones to a free-agent contract, extending a contract offer to the former University of Miami 3-point specialist. With the free-agent signing period to commence at midnight, a five-year offer has been extended to Jones, starting at $4 million for next season. The final three years of the contract would be conditional, to protect the Heat for the 2010 free-agency period.</div> South Florida Sun-Sentinel
He was last years, average player of the year or something like that. Very nice signing. He'll bring what they lost in Kapono, plus he can drive, pull up, pass and overall is more versatile than Kapono. I think an upgrade.
James Jones agrees to deal with Heat <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Three-point specialist James Jones has agreed to a contract with the Miami Heat that has two years guaranteed and a starting salary of about $4 million, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. Jones, who attended high school in Miami, has been working out in South Florida the past few weeks, and was going to American Airlines Arena Wednesday afternoon to sign the contract, according to the Sun-Sentinel. Jones, whose career has included stops in Indiana and Phoenix, played for the Portland Trail Blazers last season and had the third-highest 3-point shooting percentage in the NBA, at 44.4 percent. He averaged 22 minutes and 8 points per game in 58 games last season. He decided not to exercise his option with the Trail Blazers, which would have paid him about $3.1 million in the upcoming season. In addition to the two guaranteed years, Jones' contract has three additional years that allow for the Heat to maneuver for the 2010 free-agency period, the Sun-Sentinel reported.</div>
yeah, as far as the Nets are concerned, we get a better picture of what needs other teams have and what they have left in payroll and can continue the FA guessing game that has always been a mystery for the Nets. I really don't care about the Heat or this signing.
thanks Shake, as a Nets fan, it makes my queezy just being here. but that could also be what I had for lunch.

He'll be a great addition for the Heat. I wish he signed with the Nets or even the Magic, though. I feel like he'd be a better fit on either team.
