It's reported that they will pursue a couple of restricted free agents, but they are unlikely to sign one. I count five players on their roster to share the SF, PF, and C spots (Kaman, Fazekas, Tim Thomas, Thornton, and Josh Powell). They also drafted Deandre Jordan, who would have to play. Even with Baron Davis, I believe that they will still be more than $5 million below the salary cap . . .

. . . is this the golden opportunity to jettison Stromile Swift? We could trade Swift for a future protected third-round pick [IMG] , and use the roster spot for Hodge or Jaycee Carroll.

    Thoughts, anyone?</div>

Are we still ranking the dumbest threads of the off-season?

    I second this.

Swift's only value is his contract expires at the end of the year. How does it help us?

1- It expires at the end of the year.
2- We trade it for a player that is going to help us in the fuure.
3- We waive his ass to clear up a spot space. Even this may not happen because we have ager for that purpose.

No way Clippers trade a pick for Swift only to see Swift leave the year after.

The draft was weak, especially past the top 10, but still.</div>

nets would have taken hilton armstrong so we sidestepped that landmine...also, now the basketball gods owe us a mavs last place finish in 2010... [IMG]

    1. swift is worthless.
    2. in 15 months he will be out of the league.
    3. the nets will not be able to get anything of value for him.
    4. you don't think the clippers would trade a THIRD ROUND pick for him? Something that doesn't exist? I agree with Cpaw that the Nets might have to sweeten the offer with some cash, though.
