I am sorry but the more i think of this Camby makes no sense. And why give away young talent if this team is rebulding?
SWAT needs to call Camby and persuade him to join the Nets, they’d be an awesome shot blocking combo. I think Camby could become a great teacher, and if SWAT formed his game around him we’d have the sickest defense from C/PF. Yi+Najera+Simmons and possibly Boki at SF is good, we wouldn’t miss RJ at all. We know VC and Harris are gonna kill it, so assuming we stay relatively healthy we’ll be very fun to watch.

No way I trade Boone for him.</div> Are you high? Camby averaged 13.1 rebounds and 3.6 blocks last season. He's a solid 10/10 guy PLUS 3 blocks! He would be a huge mentor to Sean, Lopez and Anderson. He actually makes your future better by helping those guys. I can see people questioning Najera, but not Camby. </div> he fought his teammates for his rebounds at times. So he doesn't help as much as his numbers look. I don't think rebounding will be a problem anyway. And even if he did help us that much, it wouldn't matter, we won't compete while we have him. And the mentor thing is really overrated. thats the coaches job, the players are going to focus more on themselves. It'd probably be more productive to have young guys to grow together and compete. </div> Yes yes yes! That's exactly what I think.
Every young big needs a mentor, and not just a coach, he needs a guy you can bang against in practice and show you firsthand what you did wrong and how to fix it. Camby doesn't even have to actively try and teach or handhold, simply showing Brook and Sean things in practice where the coach can later point to and say, "do that" is invaluable. Young bigs fighting for PT with no veteran to show they how exactly to fix their mistakes is a dumb move. Camby is an investment in unlocking future potential in two kids who have publicly admitted their goal is to be good defenders. Camby had Melo and KMart on the floor with him a good amount of time and he still put up rebounding numbers, especially offensively giving his team extra possessions. Oftentimes he had to swoop in from the free throw line to get the boards, as he was set their on offense, and he would still get the boards over others jocking for position. His blocks speak for themselves and just being in the paint would help shore up our perimeter defense leaps and bounds as our wing players know they'd have backup and allow them to be aggressive and gamble when the opportunity arises. His PPG in the playoffs is a laughable stat to use against him as he literally has maybe 1 or two plays drawn up for him per game. He did miss some jumpers but he was dead tired of having gone an entire season as the only line of defense on a poor defensive team while guarding the opposing team's best player. He has a good jumper out to 20 feet, is a good free throw shooter, and if we added him he would probably be our second or close third best passer, something the Nets thrive off of and instrumental in starting a fast break. I do believe our young kids should get PT but at the same time they need to know what they're doing when they're out there. If the young kids pick it up quickly he's also an excellent trade chip as a number of teams would love Marcus' defensive presence in the paint.
I would love to get Camby, but I would rather keep Boki rather than Najera. I would not like to trade any of our young bigs for Camby though. Maybe we can work out a deal where we send Kristic, Swift, and KVH's expiring contract to the Nuggets for J.R. Smith and Marcus Camby. What do you guys think about that trade?

Cpaw! As one of our residential Nuggets fans, please give us your opinion on each of these possible acquisitions. Thank you

Camby they would do to save some luxury tax money and re-sign JR.
camby the 2007 defensive player of the year is only being paid $8M/yr...the reason denver wants him out is they believe he is on the downside...he is always on the injury list as well...i like to have him but not if we have to give away one of our young players...

That's a big reason I'd be weary of acquiring Camby any time soon, and thankful that it's simply speculation.
I would approve of both players, First Najera is an excellent player that can play both forward positions, and will replace the little things Jason Collins did. Every team that had him just loved him! Camby would be a good mentor for the nets and add insurance in case the new bigs are not ready. He and Nijera both add needed defense and are vets. Now if the nets can get them both for garbage, ie, KVH, swift, and boone and maybe a number one pick 3 or 4 years down the road this would be a very smart trade that allows the nets to continue rebuild while staying competitive. Also, i do believe Camby can make foul shots something boone can't. Pull the trigger Thorn, another brilliant move! oh yeah, go nets!!!
Speaking of Najera being the 10th most marketable players.... why are the Clippers not all over Najera? It's f'ing LOS ANGELES for goodness sakes. And I bet they actually do go after him; especially now that they are Brandless and have money to spare. And it will help actually sell some tickets
i thinkw hat we need most right now is players that can put up numbers... in terms of scoring. Our team is really weak in scoring right now with unproven rookies. some people are going to have to step up their game. I don't like the najera deal as much as the nocioni just because he doesn't put up big numbers. he's more of a role player that hustles and we have enough role players right now i think. we need more of a solid starter imo. nocioni given the minutes can produce and he has proven that
Well, it is Dave D. reporting - so who knows if this has any chance of coming true. I'll comment on it when it happens. Doesn't it seem that the trades that happen are the trades you never see coming - like the RJ/Yi trade? There is still work to be done - there are 14 players under contract, and 7 of them are big men. I think Krstic is the major hold-up here - it's tough to make any decisions until his situation is played out. Does he stay? Does he go? Is there a sign-and-trade where the Nets get a player, pick, or trade exception?
i think Kristic is gone. And Nagera was on a team with 2 gunners in mello and iverson. Now he will give you 20 to 25 minutes a night, do the little things, and play great defense and rebound. I think the nets have plenty of scorers in VC, Harris, Lopez, Anderson, CDR, boki, Yi, carroll, and maybe camby. Sean williams will get numbers too. But great defensive teams don't have to score over a hundred points, see 2002 nets. I want to see the nets win with defense and fast breaks. To do that you need great defense, rebounding and players who know how to run. The nets have these kinds of players if this trade goes thru. They will have defense and shot blocking as well. May not get them in the finals but they will be in the playoff hunt. The type of players they have now will translate into great chemistry. All i'm looking for is competitive basketball while the yougens develop. I would like to see this trade go down, i mean whats it costing us KVH contract, swift the stiff, and maybe boone. I'd hate to see Marcus go , but to get these two proven vets i'd probably be ok with it. However, that said i don't want the deal if Swat goes, only boone oh yeah, go nets!!!

Plus, in the context of the conversation, there is absolutely, positively no way that what Simmons was saying made sense. Koufos has played high school and college ball in America, like any other American prospect. From an NBA scouting perspective, he's as American as O.J. Mayo.
I can't believe I'm going to suggest this, but what about also targeting... *gulp* *breathe*... Ron Artest? The guy is C-R-A-Z-Y so it's risky bringing him in when you are also trying to develop young players. But he's a good defensive player and can also score the ball. What's his trade value anyways? He's got one year left on his contract so what would another team offer for a potential one year rental? Or are the Kings interested in keeping him around for the long term? If not, then are they willing to lose him for nothing? Swift + Marcus for Artest? What about Brad Miller as well? He's only got two more years left on his contract. Simmons + first round pick for Brad Miller? Then Hassell + Van Horn+ Boone for Camby And a resigned Krstic + Ager for Nocioni? Sign Dooling for part of the MLE. Harris/Dooling Carter/CDR Artest/Nocioni Camby/Yi/Anderson Miller/Lopez/S.Williams Too crazy to happen?
