This guy Christensen is a writer for the Minneapolis Star Tribune

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>WEDNESDAY: Christensen has an update on the Twins' deadline strategy. He says they are considering options to upgrade on the left side of the infield, though perhaps without a sense of urgency. He notes that they have discussed third baseman Adrian Beltre internally, but probably not with the Mariners. TUESDAY: According to Joe Christensen of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, the Twins don't have a glaring need and are likely to be quiet at the trade deadline. The Twins are 1.5 games out in the AL Central. They're 8th of 14 AL teams in OBP and SLG. Nonetheless, they are third in the league with 4.9 runs per game. This can be attributed to a league-best .857 OPS with runners in scoring position. Who knows, maybe they can maintain it. As for pitching, the Twins rank 9th with a 4.52 starters' ERA and 6th with a 3.44 relief ERA (admittedly a crude measure). They should probably jettison Livan Hernandez, but Francisco Liriano is the ace in the</div>

Do the Twins have any decent prospects that they'd be willing to trade for Beltre

Hes a great player, saw him when he was with the Dodgers. Don't know if he fits your teams, at times hes a good player, times hes pathetic

That's the thing, they have some prospects, but I have no idea who they would give up. Kevin Mulvey and/or Phillip Humber could be possibilities I guess... but you really don't want Humber.

After his one last season with the Dodgers (in which case he dominated), he hasn't been the same in Seattle.

True, but he still gives us a gold glover and a proven power hitter. He may not hit like he did that year, but he will still be more productive than Lamb or Buscher (although I like him) could ever be for us.

Yeah, and he could teach some of the young players since he has been in the league for quite a few years.

I guess it all depends on who we're willing to give up for him. No Liriano in the trade, please.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Twins are reportedly actively shopping a package of Livan Hernandez and Michael Cuddyer in the attempt to acquire a power-hitting third baseman. A trade involving Hernandez, more importantly than the third baseman, would allow Francisco Liriano to replace him in the starting rotation. The problem, as it stands, is finding a partner willing to take on the salaries of both players (over $22 million owed), something the Twins are struggling to pay.</div>

Although I like Cuddyer, I would probably do this. Span would do fine as the replacement and we could move Liriano back to the rotation.

Eh, I don't want to get rid of Cuddyer... He is the face of the franchise... with his magic tricks and all.
