Here is the link to see the schedule and watch the games: http://www.nba.com/summerleague2008/schedules/index.jsp My thoughts going into SL: - Hope CJ Watson shows some PG ability and better 3 pt shooting because I didn't think he was anything special last year at all. I know others on here like him but I want to see more before I consider him worthy of a roster spot (his contract isn't guaranteed until a certain date which I don't know). - I'd like to see Wright come in and dominate. He got some somewhat consistent playing time at the end of last season and did well in stretches. I'd like to see if he added some weight and it'd make me feel a lot better going into the season if he manhandled these summer leaguers and made me feel good about him as a productive player in 08. - Steinmentz said Hendrix is a lognshot to make the team, even moreso if we land Turiaf, I'd like to see him prove hes NBA worthy.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Legacy @ Jul 11 2008, 12:02 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I want to see Marco kill in the summer league like he did last season.</div> There's a guy who needs more beef.
I heard Marco has been working out hard and has shed the baby fat he carried around last year. We'll see. Yeah, it sucked that Wright got injured and missed the summer league last year. That really hurt his chance of playing and his development. Hopefully he goes into the start of this NBA season with a full steam after a dominant summer league showing. As I posted in another thread, CJ Watson lit up the D-League last year: He averaged 26.2 points, 6.0 assists, 5.5 rebounds, 1.8 steals, and shot a sizzling 51% from the field, 40% from three, and 89% from the line. He had some ups and downs after being called up, but hopefully he can light up the summer league and prove he belongs. I really like that kid. Hendrix -- man, I would love to see him on the roster, too. I must be a homer, because I can't think of any body we have that I don't like. For the first time in a long time!! I have heard many people say that Turiaf provides some "muscle" inside. But did you watch Hendrix play in college? That guy can BANG! And he loves it. That's his game. He's a solid power guy inside. I like Turiaf's game, and I love his story, but it sucks that there may be a bit of a log jam at F/C because I want to see RH get a chance. I've been BEGGING for a player like him for the last five years, and we FINALLY got one... don't let him get away, Mully! But, the dude I most excited about is Randolph. Contrary to much of what is being written, I personally think he's a year-1 player. I think he's ready for the NBA, for the type of game he plays, right this minute. I wonder if he'll be the real dominant factor for GS inthe summer league. There are only so many touches, between Belly, CJ, Wright, and Randolph, it'll be interesting to see who becomes the alpha male for this brief summer stint.
If the Warriors add Turiaf he would be the Warriors backup center as far as I have heard. Couldn't Hendrix still fill in at the 4 somewhere? 7 Kelenna Azubuike (FA) 22 Matt Barnes (FA) 18 Marco Belinelli 15 Andris Biedrins (FA) 44 Austin Croshere (FA) 8 Monta Ellis (FA) 3 Al Harrington 35 Richard Hendrix ** 1 Stephen Jackson 50 Corey Maggette 26 Patrick O'Bryant (FA) 19 Kosta Perovic C 4 Anthony Randolph ** 23 C.J. Watson G 32 Brandan Wright 7 This is the roster right now at 15 players. I can see Turiaf easily replacing POB and Croshere. I can see Hendrix easily making the roster if he is as good as people have been saying he is on this board and the likes. He may not be on the active roster but I could see him still being on the team. I recall Nelson saying that he is happy with the Hendrix pick because you rarely get a player ready to play in the NBA right away with the second round pick. So I think Nelson likes Hendrix enough to keep him on the team, unless if he does horribly this summer/offseason. I'd guess this would be the depth chart right now: PG: Ellis/Watson/3rd PG that Nelson wants SG: Jackson/Belinelli SF: Maggette/Randolph PF: Harrington/Wright/Hendrix C: Biedrins/Turiaf/Perovic And then there are perhaps two free agents to look at coming back in Azubuike and Barnes. So I am not sure what Steinmetz is talking about with Hendrix being the odd man out for this team/or being the long shot to make the team. Does Nelson love Croshere a lot? or what? Oh and I should say thank you for posting that link to watch the games. That is great. I hope to watch some of it. I am never so sure how those types of things will work out. Hopefully there are no technical problems.

Hey guys -- I just wanted to remind you that all of the summer league games are available to watch for free -- they're being webcast on nba.com for free! Just goto the link that Run provided http://www.nba.com/summerleague2008/schedules/index.jsp and click the "watch" button next to any of the games. Cheers
Randolph dominating with 16 points at half on 6-10 shooting, 4-4 from the line. No one else is really impressive, Wright had an and-1 and a couple blocks, Beli hit a couple nice shots. Hendrix hasn't even played yet.
Unfortunately they all look like typical Warriors defensively, that is to say, they don't play any. What is untypically Warrior though, my favorite part, is that at this moment in the 3rd quarter they are 17-17 from the freethrow line, and that has nothing to do with your competition. Wow, when's the last time you saw something like that?

Refs are calling everything and players are just hacking whenever they get beat because there's no foul limit. As usual the scrubs are trying to prove they can score like Jordan so guys like BW and Jason Smith aren't getting the ball.
Now Belinelli is just chucking, playing with a 5-second shot clock. That's exactly the kind of crap I don't want to see, what the Warriors need to get away from. Maybe he spent too much time learning from Baron. I don't know, he looks good shooting-wise when he's on, but he just looks sooooo one-dimensional to me. Really not excited about him at all.

I'm a BB (BelliBeliever).
It looks like today is Randolph's day. Wright is having an effective game but 26 and 7 so far from Randolph.
Randolph is a beast. Philly was making a push to make it close there with 2 min left. Called for the ball to go one on one, pulled up and got a 14 foot jumper to go then the next possession he drove to the rim, got an and-i via a goaltend, missed the FT but thats his only FT miss of the night.
Randolph with a sick block to end the game. His final line: 30 pts, 8 reb, 1 assist, 2 steals, 2 blocks, 5 TO, 6 PF, 12-18 FGs, 0-3 3ptFGs, 6-7 FTs. PRetty good all around game from him. Showed ability to hit that mid-range jumper at will, pulling up off the dribble or otherwise. His handle is very nice for his size, he made a few great passes on the fast break, blocked some shots. Just a good all around game from him. He lost the ball a few times but can't complain about much else from him. Box Score
I know it's summer league but that has to be one of the ugliest games I've watched. 53 turnovers and 63 foul shots. Ouch. I guess the refs needed to blow the rust out of their whistles. Randolph and Wright looked pretty good, but they had 11 turnovers. I spoke to soon about the freethrow shooting, after starting 17-17, they missed 5 of their last 11. Ahh, now THAT's the Warriors we know and love. All in all a mixed bag but not bad.
I wonder what type of draft workouts Randolph had. Because, he must have really really screwed up on those. Otherwise, he would not slip to 14th. Smooth 6'11" SF with a very good ball handling, athleticism and decent offense skill... He still has long ways to go, and 1 assist for a player who can handle the ball like that suggest that he is not a natural passer. But, he couldn't start his pro debut better. I was bit worried whether he and Wright can coexist, but I think they can...
I wouldn't stress too much on the lack of assists by all players. Understand this is the first game with a bunch of strangers other than Wright, Bellinelli, and Watson.

Voodoo Child told me that Tony Barone (the guy who runs the Memphis workouts) was screaming at Randolph "If you're tired get the f*ck out of the gym!" or something like that because Randolph was winded during the workouts. Nellie knows how to pick 'em though. Here's Janny Hu's live blog from the D-League: <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'># Randolph had a shaky first few minutes -- got scored on by Young easily and turned the ball over trying to drive the lane on the next possession -- but came on really strong to end the first quarter. Lost Young on a nice up-and-under move, had a nice follow-up dunk and hit a long jumper. Actually spent a good amount of time playing on the perimeter. Liked his emotion on the court, too. Led all scorers with 8 points after the first. # Wright looked active. Had a nice and-1 and huge, soaring block against guard Dawan Robinson to end the quarter. He and Randolph are giving the Warriors a lot of length. # Must be some carry-over fans from last year, because Marco is still a crowd favorite. Hit his first two shots, including a three-pointer, to get the fans going. # Amundson is a beast. Isn't afraid to throw his 6-9 body around. Hustles for rebounds, especially on the offensive end. Solid bet for a training camp invite, if not a roster spot next season. Always plays well here in summer league. And always has the crowd behind him, as he went to UNLV. # Been a rough go for the other local, C.J. Watson. First half line: 1-7 shooting, three assists, four turnovers, two steals. And just started the second half with an offensive foul. # General thought: For summer league purposes, this is about as good as it gets for a matchup of bigs. Pretty much everyone is a first-round pick: Wright, Young and Smith last year; Randolph and Speights this year. And Amundson played with the Sixers last year. # Just ran into Patrick O'Bryant, who will officially be an ex-Warrior at any moment. The free agent center -- whom the Warriors draft with the ninth pick in 2006 -- is signing with the Boston Celtics. (I believe it's one year guaranteed, team option for the second year). # Got an update on Hendrix: He isn't playing due to injury. The Warriors are hopeful he'll be ready to go Sunday or Tuesday.</div> http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/warrio...;entry_id=28097
