Otherwise we won't have an MLE left (Especially if the Najera deal is front loaded). We do have a $3.3mm TE. They can always ask Orlando to sign Dooling and trade him for the TE.

What's the max a contract can decline over the years? Petey, I think you mentioned to me the percentage once before.</div>

    The same % of increases.

So I guess it declines by 8%. That means he's signing for $3.4mm this season and the next 3 years will be about $3.125mm, $2.875mm, $2.65mm.

If that's right I'm sorry but $2.875mm in 2010 is not a huge amount of flexibility compared to $3mm if they just straight lined it.

I think he's a really good player, but I don't think he's a starter and if he's a bench player where does that leave the rookies?

I rather see better starters, like a Camby or Nocioni and the young guys coming off the bench. Najera is the type of player that the Spurs or Celtics sign to come off the bench.

I'm dying to know what the master plan is here. I really think they have something up their sleeve.

So how is the front court situation going to play itself out?

If they try to sign and trade Krstic to the Nuggets for Camby, then what do they do with Swift and hopefully Hassell in a trade? I even hope Simmons ends up getting traded. Now they have a logjam in SF's with Simmons, Najera, and Hassell in addition to a logjam in the frontcourt.

I want a better quality starting SF and better quality starting front court player or two.

That type of contract is very movable. Look at the 76ers rumored trades. Him and a pick for a TE and a lower/2nd round pick would see him off if the Nets are in the position to make major moves.

Basically this is what Kiki did in Denver, created a logjam at PF. I think this is part of a process of developing assests, that can be used to gain flexability down the road.

Anyway both Simmons and Hayes are a bit injury bitten and Najara might be health insurance.

At this point I kind of expext us to enter the season with a loaded roster, and that the Rooks may see a little less PT. Well at least they can better prepare for the difficult 82 game season, without excessive wear.

True, but going after Najera with Dooling still on the market is baffling. Dooling is the piece we needed.

With the exception of Hassan Adams, I think LF has handled every rookie perfectly.

I'm not worried about their development.

Nets roster as how I see it at the moment:

    Harris/ ?
    Carter/Hayes/CDR
    ? /Najera
    ? /Yi/Anderson
    ?/Lopez

    Krstic:

Might bring him back or use him in a sign and trade

    Nachbar:

sign and trade possibility still open

Youngs guys to use in a trade:

    Marcus
    Sean
    Boone

Players to use in a trade as contract filler and who I don't want to see on the roster

    Hassell
    Simmons
    Swift
    Van Horn
    Ager

I wonder how Boki feels about them signing Najera.

Can Hayes play 2 guard? I guess Simmons (if his ankle is healthy) and CDR can play some.

They still have part of their MLE for Dooling. And then have players to trade/move now too.

Only $2mm left. He's looking for $3-4mm per year, which I could see someone giving him. Could do a S&T with Orlando using the TE.

Otherwise I hope they already have a trade close to worked out. Would suck if they do all this and everything is dependent on getting specific types of players in trades. They aren't the easiest thing to be worked out. Everyone thinks they are sitting on gold (except the Grizzlies [IMG] ).

Looks more and more like Marcus might not be moved unless it is for a point gaurd straight up.

Like the signings though but still, two years too late.

Maybe Dooling won't sign with the Nets. Maybe he wants too much money. Maybe there's a S&T possibility. We don't know. The Nets still need a combo guard or PG, though.

I agree. I have nothing against Najera, he's a good player and all...but why are we signing him? What is the point in signing him?

We already have a glut of forwards, not enough guards. What the hell is our front office thinking?

If they trade boone or swill i may not be a nets fan much longer. NAJERA???!!! gtfo!!

With the right teacher boone and swill could be starters in this league. Najera is a garbageman. He willl give you some quality minutes here and there but he isnt someone you sign for 4 yrs when your team is in a rebuilding phase!

I think Kiki and Thorn know what they're doing. I don't see Najera here in 2012.

there's got to be some kind of trade coming. I'm not letting myself believe that were going into the season with this many big men.

well they keep insisting that the roster now will NOT be what it is in november(when thorn says this its like almost definite, which im pretty confident). so im assuming they got more moves to come and we shall all just sit back and hopefully enjoy the ride
