So what can we, Celtics fans, expect from POB? I know he didn't play that much last season, but what do you Warriors fans think of him?

So he is going to be able to do a few good things on the court. He's supposed to have a good touch but I don't think it really ever translated into the games. I mean the announcers would say that Patrick O'Bryant has decent range, but when he shot some shots during the game, I just never saw it (maybe this was like a previous Warrior Jiri Welsch who was supposed to be this fantastic shooter during practice and scrimmage, but during games it just never showed). Also when Don Nelson describes Randolph (the Warriors draft first round pick from this year's draft) as having "it". I think it could be said that Patrick O'Bryant lacks "it". I wouldn't expect too much from him. He may be a 9th-12th man off the bench who may bring some inconsistent production, sometimes good, sometimes invisible. Then again he's still pretty young. I think he's probably 22 now (I think he was 20 when he was drafted). He didn't really get much time to play here as well, which means I didn't get to see him play very much also. I wish him the best in Boston. Good team to join.

He will do much better in Boston is he gets minutes and learns from KG.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>AP Press -- With one title already under their belt, the champs add another great piece to the puzzle with the addition of Pattycake "The Baker" O'Bryant. They fully expect him to step right in, moving Perkins to the bench and add depth to their lineup. "He's the guy we wanted this pass year that would of made everything easy for the whole team, but we did it without someone like him, so we hope he'll be a big addition to this team in this upcoming season" stated Kevin Garnett from a local club house</div> It's a bummer Pattycake never got a chance in GS, I think he could of mimic Beans to some extent when he got a rest instead of you guys going Midget mode, but oh well. Watch him become a stud C similar to Marcus Camby for the Celts as they repeat......lol Sorry for the high hopes but I was a fan of Nellie's whipping boy.
I thought POB was a great pick considering the options in the 2006 draft. He's got good hands, good length for a 7 footer. He produced in college. He's got a unique skyhook that is his go to move. He makes nice passes. He's very mobile and although not as strong yet can throw some hard two hand dunks down like Andrew Bogut. What I don't think he has is nba readiness in terms of defense and he doesn't have a natural feel for the game outside of rebounding or shotblocking. Therefore his offense is raw and his defense could use some work since he's not the most fundamentally sound in this area and he isn't physically developed yet. He was a guy that could have used a mentor and a coach that believes in big man offenses. I think if the Celtics get him a really good 7 foot nba player/coach that can teach him he could pull a Jermaine O'neil. POB has some really nice pass instincts for a guy that is supposedly raw and timid. Maybe like Dunleavy he never really got the right opportunities for himself to play towards his own strengths. A change of scenery could have him producing respectable numbers and getting better with each year. But this is Nelly we're talking about.. Nelly didn't even utilize a guy like Biedrins at the right times when we needed more rebounding and inside scoring not less. Nelly just wanted to go quicker/smaller because he feels that any of his big men aren't good enough to neutralize other big men and he wants the tempo to go faster which might not work in our favor if we're not hitting from outside or playing the D to be able to run in transition. A good big man can pay dividends as the best ones stay around for a long time to help offensively and defensively, but Nelly just doesn't have the patience to tell his guards to stop chucking and to try and get the bigs more involved by keeping them on the floor. Also, POB just doesn't bring any swagger. I think to play for Nelson, you have to have guts because if you let down at any time, I think that's what Nelly doesn't like. So maybe POB's problem is he's got a self confidence problem. I'm just guessing though. I'm sure Nelly mostly cares about what he sees in practices and scrimmages. He probably saw a few practices and really noticed how unrefined POB is and typically unrefined centers don't do the Biedrins thing no matter what their physical skills are. Nelly's got no patience for that and would rather take a guy with zero skill and no upside like DJ Mbenga if it can get him blocked shots without fouls. Why he chose DJ over POB I will never know... but goddamn I'd rather have POB than Mbenga... That brought nightmares of Adonal Foyle all over again... like are you "Fn kidding me!“" missed layups and dunks brought to us by a pair of the crappiest hands since... Adonal Foyle. Not even Erick Dampier's were that bad... Getting POB is nice, but patience is necessary. He'll show some nice flashes of what he could be doing regularly like flush it inside, hookshots, midrange shots, making nice passes. His ballhandling kind of sucks so don't expect a back-to-the basket type game just yet.
He'll do much better in a system where he has a legitimate big next to him. I wouldn't expect more than 10-15 minutes out of him, but he'll be a serviceable backup in Boston.
I think he will. If they were patient with Kendrick Perkins, they should be patient with POB. Perkins is pretty serviceable for a guy that doesn't really average double digit rebounding like he should.
