Maybe it is because of my football jones, but I'm watching Arena Football and I'm enjoying it.

I doubt I'll become a big fan of the AFL, but it is certainly something I'll consider watching more of.

    Anyone follow the AFL?

I dont really....the games are really great if you go to one though....its like a party, but in the middle, is a 50 yard indoor war.....specifically in Orlando, the lights at the arena are turned out, so its pitch black, you cant see anything, then they crank Guns and Roses's "Welcome to the Jungle", they have lasers that light up and they have fireworks they shoot off in the arena while the mascot comes ripping out of the tunnel on a Harley....its a damn nice intro before they announce the players....the game itself is nice in that environment because the depending on how high up you are, you end up even with the flight of the ball a lot, and its just a fantastic visual....tickets arent a lot either if he sit in the family sections....

Mike Brown for Philly just took a kick return, hurdled the kicker in stride and took it in for a TD. Damn that was impressive

I wonder how long until it makes it to YouTube

Is the AFL like the minor leagues? Or any of these guys good enough for the NFL?

its not an affiliated minor league, but there has been one guy that went to the AFL, did well enough to get into an NFL training camp, made that team, lead them to a 13-3 record, won the Super Bowl, and lead them back to the Super Bowl another time....he was also the MVP of the league....thats the extreme success story and that was Kurt Warner....theres a few guys that went on to have average careers as well, such as Oronde Gadsden....

Kurt Warner honed his skills working overnight at a grocery store stocking shelves before finally getting a shot at the Arena League....he used to throw things across the store into shopping carts to entertain the other stockers....when he finally got on an Arena League team, he was good, but not great(for the Iowa Barnstormers)....he signed with the Rams and only won the starting job when Trent Green was injured in the Preseason by a questionable hit by Rodney Harrison....Warner took over before opening day and the greatest show on turf was born....during the previous offseason, they had acquired Faulk and drafted Holt, two pieces that meshed perfectly with the teams current talent....they went 13-3 and what i personally remember most abou that team, is that they were up 28-0 lightning fast in a ton of games....they went on to win the Super Bowl of course and Warner was the MVP....Green was traded to the Chiefs and did well there as well....

They have some talent there, a few AFL guys get looks from the NFL.The XFL had some decent ideas, but they had no talent. But my problem w/ the AFL is theres very little open field running, thats what makes football so appealing, the speed of the game. Most plays end w/ someone getting pinned against the wall or gang tackled quickly bc theres nowhere to go.

If they opened it up to 100 yards but kept the rules I might watch more.

Yep, I'm watching our San Jose Sabercats beat up on Grand Rapids right now. That Philly game earlier was fun to watch.

I'm actually still a Quincy fan, I really enjoyed rooting for him, although I think that's because my expectations were so low that I focused more on the occasional 50 yard bomb to Galloway more than anything else.
