<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Some 400 miles away from the Corey Maggette festivities, Don Nelson was watching performances far less refined. His youngest players were opening their summer-league slate with the usual chaotic energy that comes with exhibition debuts.

For every nice finish by rookie Anthony Randolph, there was a missed defensive assignment. For every rejection by Brandan Wright, there was a careless turnover.

Nelson watched it all, and the 67-year-old coach couldn't help but acknowledge that Friday's game served as a first-hand look at the challenges of next season.

"It's way different than last year," Nelson said. "It'll be a lot more teaching involved, a lot more film watching. But that's no problem. I've done it before.

"Almost everybody understands what we're doing. I'd love to coach the best team in basketball if I could. But if I can't, it's whatever's there."</div>

How many think this won't be Nellie's last year coaching. If he wants to develop the young guys, he should stick around for more than a year.

I never know with Don Nelson. I thought maybe he would be turned off a bit by the JRich trade a year ago, and now with Baron gone, I was thinking, maybe he could start pushing to quietly slide out of being the head coach for this next season. I think he'd really like to compete for a final (at least a finals appearance which is kind of apparent when in the article he says that he'd like to coach the team with the best talent).

But with that said I think Don Nelson just LOVES to coach basketball. And I guess he is quite satisfied with what is going on with the Warriors and working with Chris Mullin and the players he has here. He may really coach until the day he dies - or maybe until his health becomes a major concern like it seemed to be last summer.
